But the NFL fines players for doing this…
Why is everyone so sensitive? You read “gg”, you immediately think they want to tilt you, what about sportsmanship? Not everything has to be sarcastic.
Maybe blizz should allow people to say Bad game you suck but only when they win. That way these kids will have legit gripes when they say bad sportsmanship. This topic keeps comong up and I bet the ones that never get to play sports because they are un athletic from hours of gaming without going outside to play
I prefer “gg ez” or “bg” over “gg” since first ones represent true feelings and other one feels fake, forced and ironic because close games are rare. And if someone spams gg on one sided games I reply with 3 letter acronim representing what this individual should do.
The NFL started allowing celebrations last year and they got super creative. So maybe update your thinking or stop cherrypicking arguments
Also in the words of legendary NFL and collgeg coach Jimmy Johnson ‘If you don’t want us dancing then dont let us score.’
“It’s a good game because we won” is the “GG” I see the most.
It’s almost always the people on the winning team GGing to themselves. It doesn’t really feel like it’s about sportsmanship anymore.
I say gg every game. Win or lose. Stomp or get stomp. I could careless how you take it.
I’m not cherry picking anything. I don’t keep up on sports and knew that it was something they punished for for MANY YEARS. So talk about cherry picking something that was JUST CHANGED last year.
Not anymore, 2017 started new rules
I always try to give people some information on why they got stomped, but people don’t like that.
It’s almost only ever the winning team that says gg, that’s why it’s held in such negative regard.
Blizzard please do this.

Does anyone else think that when you say gg to the enemy team when you have stomped them is poor sportsmanship?
Saying GG after you win is poor sportsmanship regardless of how the game went, unless the other team says it first. Enjoy your win; don’t rub it in the losers’ faces. If they say GG, do a GG back. It’s pretty simple.

This is like a football player on defense getting made because the running back did a dance in the end zone after he scored a touchdown. Don’t like it? Don’t let it happen.
It’s more like the entire team right down to the towel boy doing a choreographed “You all suck” dance in front of the losing team and they aren’t supposed to do anything.
LIke say, this:
I believe that this is definitely a touchy topic and as mentioned, language; tone and context all comes into play, especially context in the event of a kerb stomp / steam roll.
I have never adopted the use of “gg” because i never played PvP zero sum video games until OW, 4 months ago but what i say, as i would say after a competitive basketball game is, “Thank you for the game” after most games (about 90% of the time) irrespective of the result.
Yes, i type it out in full (it isn’t that hard) and so far, i usually have either no response and when i do, even most salty ones would reply politely. I got kerb stomped recently in QP and MH recently and i typed, “Thank you for the game.”
One of the guys in QP replied, No Thx. I thought that he was trolling but it was ok. We played the same team a second time and this time my team eked out a Win. Again, i typed, “Thank you for the game” and i received the same reply from the same guy. It was then, that i realised that he was genuinely being polite. As English was not his first language, i translated mentally that for Mandarin language speakers, we typically reply in the negative when we are being polite, as in “No it is ok. Thank you, for the game”.
In the MH kerb stomp, the best player on the opposite team added me to his Friend’s List after i typed, “Thank you for the game.”
So, what i am trying to say is this. Courtesy begets courtesy barring a few goons; if we really wish to be polite and practise real world sportsmanship in a virtual environment, let’s not be ambiguous about it.
It’s a BG for me, I wouldn’t say GG.
I think gg is a good thing to say. Any sport played regardless of score always ends with both sides saying good game to each other. I think people would take it worse if you said sorry you got stomped (nicer ways of saying this would still be seen this way.)
I think ggez got most people just fed up with all forms of gg, but no I dont think gg should be perceived as bad sportsmanship.
seems like you’re pretty butthurt
They may have had time to get over it by now.
