Saying "diff" at the end of the match is toxic

We all know saying “diff” at the end of the match is extremely toxic and unnecessary. Most of my matches ends with someone saying “tank diff” or something similar to put down the person who they think did worse than them. I report them every time I see it in chat because I think it’s just poor sportsmanship.

No idea if Blizzard punishes based on those reports, but they definitely should. People shouldn’t feel bad when they play a video game and those putting others down should be muted or suspended temporarily in my opinion. Thoughts?

No I think everyone can agree that saying “diff” should warrant someone losing their account and they should be sentenced to at least 10 years in prison.

Anything that you consider toxic is toxic. Thats how things work around here, didnt you know this? OW forums diff.

If it were my decision I would do that in a heartbeat. Toxicity under my watch would be non-existent.

It’s funny you think that honestly.

Yes it is and you know it as well does the entire playerbase because we all see it at the end of every match, yet Blizzard lets everyone get away with it.

If i see it at the end of the match i simply read it and move on like an adult tbh.

Unless the player is commenting things about you as a person i couldnt care less tbh.

The only reason you wouldn’t want this is if you participate in it yourself.

Ive probabbly said it before in my time playong OW i wont deny that but again if someone says it to me i get over it and move on acting like its some offensive term is wild

I think it would benefit the community in many ways. It’s best to make punishments harsh to reduce the opportunity.

Yeah you see a lot of examples of that throughout history. Works great there too.

i will try this at 2.oo am,

Lol playing this game outside of a stack is already bad enough, you cant even talk in voicechat without someone reporting you for something.

Way i see it if you want any resemblance of what OW should be, play in a 5 stack

All it does is point out what’s very obvious especially with the tank. Not sure how it’s ever been toxic.

I mean it is. It’s hardly the biggest offense by any stretch - but it’s absolutely “toxic”. It literally serves as nothing except an insult.

True, maybe, but if youre getting that upset and offended by someone writing “diff” you should probably just mute chat entirely.

Acting like its some extremely offensive term is just wild

I don’t see why people view banning this phrase as extreme. If people don’t want to be banned then just don’t be mean. Kindergarten 101: if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it at all.

I don’t think people should lose their accounts but they should face consequences. Personally I’m not sure if believe in permanent bans as a punishment aside from cheaters. But maybe they get banned for 2 years so it’s actually a loss and not something they can wait out for a little while and then go back to being toxic. The idea is that people improve their behavior. Even if someone makes the choice to be better, they don’t immediately never offend again. They will make mistakes but if they’re genuinely trying to be better they will stop making mistakes.

I rather the people yelling diff be banned over those that clap back when other people trash talk them (which does happen).

It’s not even refutable how toxic it is, disgusting behavior that should be immediately punished.

And how do they improve their behavior when they arent told what they did in the first place?

People in this forum every single day talk about reporting people for playing Sombra. Reporting people for gg. Reporting people for diff. Reporting people that didn’t heal them. Reporting people for not doing enough damage and on and on and on.

No one is learning anything except those of us that learned turn off all comms is your best bet.
