Recently the DPS player Samito put out his “Overwatch’s Path to Success” on twitter and I wanted to break each change down 1 by 1. Side note; I have played at least 10 hours of the current patch and have a good idea of what the game feels like now, so I’ll be going off that.
(I WANT TO STRESS THESE ARE NOT MY IDEAS AND I AM JUST RESPONDING TO THEM AND OPENING THEM UP TO THE FORUMS!)
- Fortify dmg reduction reduced to 20% and Pull radius reduced "same size as grav lol"
(After playing Orisa in many matches, which included with another barrier and solo tanking, I think it’s safe to say she’s no longer an issue. I don’t think she is as brain dead as before and only really can sustain herself and not much else. In fact there were some matches where I was getting rolled over by a junk and 76 because the heals couldn’t keep up and my barrier and fortify weren’t enough to keep me alive to Tank. This change seems un-needed.)
- Mei multi-freeze reverted and freeze slow effect removed
(Now I am not a mei player so I cannot speak too in depth on these. I will leave it for Mei players to discuss amongst themselves.)
- Reaper life steal reduced to 30% and Shadow Step teleport reverted
(I do think Reaper could use just a tiny nerf, like the tiniest knock down. However, I don’t quite see the need to revert the teleport change. He can sustain just a little too well, but I feel like teleport isn’t the issue.)
- Baptiste spread buff reverted and Immo field health reduced to 150hp
(So, I’d rather nothing happen to Baptiste, but if we HAD to revert one of the recent buffs? I’d rather just see his fire rate decreased and let him keep his accuracy. Also nerfing immo again? You people STILL struggle to shoot a non moving 200 hp target?)
- Hanzo storm arrow reduced by 1 arrow
(Hanzo has some problems but I think that reducing it by 1 arrow is going to mean nothing. I feel the entire community has many different gripes with this hero and this nerf will literally do nothing to fix that issue.)
- Genji fire rate and projectile speed increased by 15% and can deflect Sigma Rock
(Ok so deflecting rock is not gonna happen because it’s meant to function that way, but I’ve seen a lot of Geni’s like that idea. However, buffing the 15%? Nah. From a support perspective, in the recent patch alone he is everywhere. Moira and brig together struggle to fight a good Genji without letting everyone die. Sure, Genji gets stunned to death but I’ve also has at least 10 games in new patch where he got blade and we all fall down, so…?)
- Phara splash damage revert
(Oh yes. Please buff the spam high DPS more now you’ve nerfed shields and heals can’t heal the power creep to save their lives. This was sarcasm. Junk is already proving to be really oppressive and healing has been drastically reduced in effectiveness. Buffing more spam damage would be non nonsensical.)
- Brigitte armour pack HPS reduced, base health is 250 hp no armour.
(Okay. So after playing Brigitte in this new patch? Please BUFF her. There are no shields to hide behind the help with positioning, her heals barely touch the free damage flying around and now he is REALLY suggesting we nerf her further? This one really got me tilting my head in confusion. She’s so niche. If these nerfs went through you’d gut the character for good and kill her. Fact.)
- Wreckingball pile drive stops at peak height
(Wreckingball mains? Anything to say about this?)
- Moira orb ricochet once, grasp life steal reverted but lower the grasp aim hitbox. Wraith cooldown increase by 1 second.
(Sure, why not. None of these stops me from dunking on you as Moira so…? Sure.)
- Increase Widowmakers charge time by 20%
(Widow mains, this is on you mate)
- Revert Orisa’s shield hp and revert her HP buff (pre tank patch)
(For as long as Sigma is able to combo with her, they will never do this. Orisa and Sigma got screwed because they encouraged each other so induvidually they both must be trash to compensate for being OP together)
- Remove or rework Mercy super jump into an in game ability
(Or you could just not? I don’t see the hate for it. Sure it’s a bug that happens to work out in favour of Mercy but who really struggles with this ability? Like who? I’m waiting…)
- Revert Wreckingballs ability to pop shields in ball form
(Uhhh… why?)
- Revert Sombra perma invis. 6s invis time with 50% movement increase.
(Her invis isn’t her issue.)
- Reduce Sleep Dart cooldown by 2s
He briefly mentions reworking Doomfist but didn’t elaborate because it deserves some more in depth discussion.
