I’ll be honest with you. I came to this thread because of Kev, not Samito. I don’t know what Samito is going on about and I don’t really care to.
Yeah but I don’t think this matters when tank and supports aren’t a real role. I’ve never seen a rein do much of anything in classic and widow can practically one shot tanks lol
I watched a bit of Sam to see if he ever played rein in classic but I only saw genji Hanzo and zarya. Which like ok you played DPS and one of the real tanks and had fun cool.
It’s fun if that’s what you play but for the other heroes it’s miserably bad
I hope they bring it back. I want proof that oct 2020 was the holy Grail patch that fixed all of 6v6 issues. Because I don’t really remember it that way
I’m with you on this one. As far as I remember it, Oct 2020 was simply a time when people hadn’t figured out what the new meta was after the horrors of Gigahog. Ball was still slept on, IIRC, so people were trying out different stuff and that’s always a fun time. Then it got worked out.
Even so, tanks were still bottlenecking the queue times. There’s a reason why they introduced priority pass bribes in Dec 2020 and it’s not because Oct 2020 was a success. Besides which, if 222 RQ is so fragile that it can only be good for one month out of years of existence, then it’s still obviously too unsustainable to be the main mode of the game imo.
the funny part is that’s a result of 5v5.
max 2 min 1 5v5 showed this perfectly. with one less player in the backline its just too free to go in and flank.
in 6v6 we have the off tank to help contest these angles.
in 5v5 we have… no one. so we put the power off the off tank into the support so they can hold the angles. problem is that this powercreep creates an insane amount of problems long term. a mercy cannot hold angles. but bap and illari can completely dominate angles with little to no risk. truth be told supports should be on mercys level instead of trying to get mercy on baps level. but without the off tank supports cannot be nerfed. therefore the impossible balance off an uneven format.
it really became problematic after s9. if I’m in rq right now i can genuinely feel myself hunting 225 heroes and running away from 275+ heroes as i know i stand no chance of killing them quickly. that feels awful. in OWC i actually can roll up on most heroes and kill them. which feels much better.
Samito is on point 99% of the time. 5v5 Can never work, MAYBE in Ow3 it might.
Ow2 supports has killed this game so much, They Are the roots of all BS, They are here to deny everything that makes the game fun.
OW classic is SO nice when we dont need to deal with suzu TP boop boop boop Lifegip pedal blah blah blah
I like Samito but his answer to get more tank players is wishful thinking
Idk. Because you can easily argue that mercy, Lucio, and zen are mostly fodder for heroes like genji, tracer, and widow. So if balance means supports can’t defend themselves then yeah it’s a very balanced game mode.
By contrast…playing as a support is awful and can often have you feeling useless
It wasnt it was better for a rq patch but not really any holy grail that could solve rq issues.
OWC is hell for support players. People who say that “this is now it needs to be”, need to be reminded, that things changes to make support also a fun role.
for me the worst part of OWC healers are the clunky mechanics they have or low life in the case of zenyatta, but healing feel more fun for me because I had a choice in who I can heal. It was more of a out of combat thing to do
Healing for me was too high since season 3-4 from OW1 upward, with 6vs6 was at the worst, it was impossible ot kill someone without ultimates, with OW2 only burst damage heroes were able to kill but it was better than now.
Bad dps players can’t aim and get rolled when Zen and Lucio are not clunky and can defend themselves like in current ow. That’s why they need the clunk crutch so they can pretend they have skill
Death was cheap in classic because you have spawn tp and mass rez going off every teamfight. Thats what most support utility was. Mercy lucio and sym fovused on quickly getting people back to fights (lucio 30 meter speed boost).
But people like samito kept crying about it so instead that was taken away and supports started focusing on midfight kill prevention and certainly this is better than " waaah waah undoing my secret q artack" right?
Or you could just like, get good with other hitscan…
tbh samito is just a bit… that cries when HE makes a mistake n flames everyone or says x to op he is a joke a walking cancer of this game
I am a full support player, except when u go with my Torby, but to be honest, in classic I remember using my pistol with Mercy considerably more that what I do right now with OW2.
this is actually true for most part i was like its going to feel slow but between tp or rez or speed havnt felt that long walk much.
that said the maps also help a lot.
sym tp should be there for flashpoint atleast lol
what was the problem with it why was it reworked i dont remember
the bigger problem on ow2 is that tanks are the most important role on the game so best the way to win a match is focusing on dont let the enemy tank play the game. on this way the game feels like hardcounter the enemy team or lose.
anyway i think that its impossible to get a better game with this balance team. dont matters if is 5vs5 or 6vs6.
Why is feels easier is because of how large and exploitable tanks are. Its a bit harder to exploit dps/supports because they have so much range and mobility. Tanks have none of the range, mobility, nor the small size.
If Tanks were more like dps and supports in body size, then I feel like the ‘counter’ against them would be much harder. However, that means giving up OW tanks in terms of body size. Putting them more like mei, brig, torb, and reaper sizes.
the problems on the tanks is that they are sooo good againsts x things but very bad againsts other things. then you are almost forced to counter them or lose.
look how opressive is dva againts no beams heros and how easy is outplay her with heros like zarya ( on the 90% of the ranks)
