So, if we follow the “cycle”, it’s 99.9% going to be a support hero, the question is, who?
The theme is “Champions”, but, of what?, you know, “Champions” kinda sounds similar to warrior/knights, so I’m thinking Brig gets the S9 mythic.
Another point for that, is that to this day, Brig still doesn’t have any type of skin in any BP, if I recall correctly, every single hero except Brig to this day has a BP skin (epic/legendary/mythic) in a BP, but no for Brig.
Or the mythic it’s for Mercy (already has too many OW2 skins), since, you know.
Yeah, they even admited they set the bar to high with Genji. (I don’t play Genji, don’t like his gameplay, but’s it’s one my 3rd best mythic skin list)
Three colors and three weapons. That’s what I call customization! The real-real question is whether or not we can skip this mythic for an older one that has more customization options, or is that change for season X?
Ooh, that could definitely happen. My sister just used her currency on that Liu Kang Lifeweaver skin. Blizzard would totally make a Lifeweaver Mythic to make her regret her decision. That’s so them!
I don’t think support will get it. support is not a popular role amogst average casual players, and most support players are otps with little interest in playing other supports.
where as tank and dps is more popular with the casual playerbase.
I think mythics they will just be going with mainstream popular heros/roles to get the broadest appeal.
I think it will be a dps like sojourn, widow, pharah or bastion.
also there are more dps heros so statistically they are more likely to get mythics more often.
Support will get it. Regardless of what you think re popularity (and you’re wrong, as support is probably 2nd most popular role after dps, maybe even on par these days), fact is they’ve been following a pattern of mythic releases since the game launched, and while it would make some sense to change that pattern with season 9 and skip the support mythic (due to how radical the changes to season 9 on the whole will be), I do not think the devs want to open that can of worms and risk the absolute thrashing of a backlash they would get from support players saying they’ve been shafted.
Probably because it has been a while since an OW2 hero got a mythic and LW would make sense. He’s popular, he’s strong, his design would cater wonderfully to a beautiful mythic.
That said, if the theme is champions, idk, I can’t really imagine him in something either sporty or spartan. I feel like it would be a waste of his beauty. He’s more suited to something fantastical or ethereal.
My vote would be for Lucio getting it. Unless they need a lot of guranteed money, in that case it’ll be Mercy.
Theres a “cycle”, they must complete 3 mythic skins, one for each class, before another “cycle”:
S1 Genji DMG
S2 JQ Tank
S3 Kiriko Support
// 1rst “cycle” Completed
S4 Sigma Tank
S5 Tracer DMG
S6 Ana Support
// 2nd “cycle” Completed
S7 Hanzo DMG
S8 Orisa Tank S9 ??? Support
It would have been better if they followed the first “cycle” (S1, S2, S3), of DMG, Tank and Support for the 2nd “cycle”, but you see what I mean. We are 99.9% sure it’s going to be Support.
Then it will also be at best, a epic-legendary tier in terms of quality with a few boring recolors. If they manage to make it better or even just not similar to other legendary skins the character already has, that would be a step up and surprise in itself.
Mercy is guaranteed money but I’d imagine they would keep her for a safer theme,like the Witches one. Or something girly/cutesy in general.
It’s something that’s guaranteed to work,and they’re fully aware that Mercy mains are very picky.A bad skin for her is never forgotten,a bad Mythic would cause a meltdown (like to this day Dragoon gets regularly complained about).
