To be honest Wrecking Ball is very good if he’s in the hands of a “good” player. And since there was a buff that adds that tanky-ness and cooldown changes to him he might become meta. Key word, might.
Its not that hes bad but just not as noticed than other tanks like Orisa or Sigma. Kinda like brig, who is very good but wasnt meta with roadhog at the same time.
I bet he’s not going to be even close to meta. Not even the wrecking ball gms are expecting something like that
I don’t play ball.
I’ve tested ball myself like last month and I found 3 things:
- He’s very mobile and can position anywhere in the fight.
- EXTREMELY good sustain almost Orisa levels
- Requires really good aim to pop off with, only weakness is getting executes outside of ball tech
His new buffs are gonna make him MORE tanky, his ult an absolute monstrous death sentence, and he will have better movement/disrupting tech.
I’m not sure if that’ll make him meta/OP, though.
all the mei’s gonna come out of hibernation and ruin his day by blocking him off, slowing him down and making him vulnerable. so i’d say no. no he is not. i’ve already made a few balls hop off and switch.
People don’t want a ball meta, mobility, damage, cc, and survivability all in one character and he’s probably going to get gutted if he becomes meta. Doomfist x10 with a hidden critbox while he runs away, yeah, R.I.P. Hammond.

Just a discord orb was enough to make him almost unplayable last season, i don’t think this soft buff is going to be enough to make him meta. Maybe a top 4 tank
I’ve only played one match against him so far. He gets two kills per ult or more and ults often. The new arm time makes the drop + ult combo deadly.
I would be shocked if he isn’t meta. Genuinely.
They overbuffed him. It’s not like cosmetic, buffs. The slam changes are insane. The mine buffs are insane. And him getting shields is also not as insane as the others, but still very impactful.
And they did all this without nerfing his survivability which even when he was weak, he almost never died because of said survivability.

He’ll be good against people who lack game knowledge
He leaves Frontline super vulnerable but your team can play farther back and with widow sojurne zen being good I think it’s possible. Although jq, ramattra, sigma and Winston all will also be good picks and if your not masters+ so will every other tank

I don’t like to play against the hamster at all.
If WB becomes meta, we’ll need Sombra back.
Probably not. More likely Orisa and Ram. Honestly you can play any tank it seems like it’s not as one sided as least season. Edit: I didn’t play long enough he’s pretty good but you can swap to Orisa, Sojourn, Sombra, Kiriko and just ruin his day.
Won’t be meta bc most ball players are bad but good ball players are about to be disgusting

Meta is still Sojourn pocketed by Mercy. They didn’t change anything regarding that. Then you play Ram or Orisa as the tank because they’re the one’s who can do something with them and if you can coordinate things just a bit with voice comms Winton is still the stronger dive hero
Ball does literally everything better than Winston minus a bubble
He might be meta in high level (and I’m sure he’s going to absolutely dominate the meta in asia) but there’s no way he’s meta in metal ranks. He’s just way too hard to play.
He really didn’t need a buff. He REALLY didn’t need that ultimate buff. That’s gonna be nuts.

I myself haven’t tested out the buffs yet, but I don’t think he’ll be meta. After all, his weapon isn’t the greatest and he can’t fight enemy tanks all alone.
What does Winston do better then?
He’s not supposed to fight tanks
