Thank goodness they’re finally starting to actually nerf snipers, I can only hope widow/ashe are gutted in the patch notes as well, but widow nerfs probably won’t come this season due to her mythic. Get ready for widow every game!

If they are then I hope Sombra is gutted as well (since many argue that Sombra is “necessary” to counter Widow and can’t be nerfed until Widow is, though I personally disagree with that)

hmm…do widows NEED to be nerfed? I mean, one shot characters are not always bad for the game. The key is to be mindful of them and not give them LOS on YOU. I used to be bad about this, where, if i see a widow…as a support, i think…“maybe i can take her!” and then i end up, sometimes, not always, licking my wounds.

Rather then letting me ego go and saying “ill do the smart thing and just stay out of her line of fire…even if I could take her, I might not be successful this time”. I’m learning to not be the one who tries to entangle myself with her, unless the situation is right

anyway, the point is, i dont see how she is a problem, as long as you are playing against someone of similar skill (not being matched with smurfs).

Ashe a sniper? Heck she has the same falloff as Juno.

There’s also a google slideshow of the changes here:

Which is easier to navigate imo than the press site.

One-shots are always unhealthy for a game when they are uncommon in said game.
I can see you’ve never dm-ed against a good sniper in TF2 or played against a good or pocketed widow in OW2 at a high level because you surely wouldn’t be making such drastic claims as

“oh maybe being able to oneshot for free on what is effectively a 1.5s cooldown on one of the least mechanically intensive DPS in the game with the least range restriction in the game who only 1 player on the enemy team is able to consistently counterplay (who also has 35k other things they need to do at all times or else the team just falls over) is pretty balanced actually”

This is exactly why heroes should be balanced around high-level players and pros, and not around bronze/silver/gold players who can’t get the full value out of heroes they play.

I’d hazard a guess that widow feels pretty balanced to YOU, because widows in your rank tend to not hit 100% of their shots, but in higher ranks widows hit 300% of their shots, and given that widow has pretty much caused literally every single widely-complained about problem in this game ( GOATS, Double Shield, Dive tanks being overtuned in OW2, Sombra being annoying because the devs are afraid of indirectly buffing widow by nerfing her, the tank headshot passive, cheaters (she is one of the most effective heroes to cheat with) ) I’d say it’s high time she either gets nerfed into the ground or reworked to become less painful to fight against.

Here is a potential rework I came up with :

Widowmaker

  • Health increased from 200 to 225

Widow’s Kiss

  • Falloff range reduced from 20 - 40 to 10 - 30 meters
  • Spread reduced from 3 to 1.5
  • Ammo increased from 35 to 40

Widow’s Kiss (ADS)

  • Precision multiplier reduced from 2.5 to 2
  • Damage reduced from 12 to 10 ( 120 to 100 at 100% charge )
  • Projectile radius reduced from 0.05 to 0.01 (pinpoint)
  • Charge time reduced from 0.9 to 0.8 seconds
  • Recovery reduced from 0.5 to 0.4 seconds
  • Zoom in/out time reduced from 0.32 to 0.2 seconds
  • Movement speed penalty reduced from 65% to 50%
  • Now has reverse damage falloff instead of normal damage falloff (damage linearly decreases as you approach)
  • Falloff range changed to 0 - 30 meters
  • Cannot be damage boosted

Venom Mine

  • Cooldown reduced from 15 to 12 seconds

Infra-Sight

  • Duration increased from 12 to 15 seconds
  • Increases the precision multiplier of Widow’s Kiss (ADS) from 2 to 3
  • Bypasses tank headshot reduction multiplier
  • Removes reverse damage falloff
  • Widowmaker is revealed to the enemy team during the cast time
  • Ultimate cost increased by 40%

correct, i never played TF2

ive played against some good widows, even at my low level. Unfortunatley, the difference between you and I (i assume you’re a high level player), is that when a diamond level widow enters MY lobbies, there’s not a whole lot we can do about it, but in YOUR lobbies, you generally have the skills to deal with her or avoid her.

At my rank, i just simply try to keep a mind about where she is and stay out of her LOS and hope my dps or flankers can keep her running. If I know they are not a particularly accurate sniper, ill even take some pot shots at her to get her to move. If i see she is really good…ill just try to keep near a corner and away from her.

i mean, i can see the merit of that, but it’s a 2 sided coin, because if you make a charcter so nuanced and difficult to play that only the elite types can play them, then the rest of the people wont have any fun.

i mean, i dont play her often so i dont know what its like to play AS her, but i often know what it feels like to play AGAINST her. She’s pretty straight forward, if she had good aim, she has a single shot rifle that can kill you.

Again being aware of where she is at compared to where you are at, is important. She is also easily killed when dove too. Even me, as a support, have killed her, many times, over the years. Just today as a matter of fact, i played mercy and she was up on a ledge shooting down at us. I pulled out my blaster and was able to land a few lucky shot before she could move and down she went.

If i play kiriko, ive double tapped her, head shot many times.

And then ive also been killed BY her…many times.

Those are just my experiences.

i agree, ive never been up against a widow who can hit 100% of their shots…but considering that most people have a 30%-40% accuracy in this game (from what ive seen), I dont think there are too many people who can hit 100% of their shots…in fact, il take that back, i dont think there is anyone in this game, even the #1 widowmaker, that can hit 100% of their shots.

Now, im sure you were just over emphasizing, so ill take what you said in context and say that, you meant, people who have good accuracy.

So, you are right, ive never played at high level, hell, ive never even played at mid level, but, I deal with the widows we have in our games with the limited skillset that I have, im assuming those in masters also deal with her, with THEIR skillsets.

Is this not the case?

Some of these are ok but they took the fun out of Dorado

There never was any.

For you.

Dorado and Numbani changes look great.

I have serious doubts that the Circuit and Havana changes are enough to meaningfully change how those maps are always sniper hell in high ranks.

the map designs do not allows for this, one hero shouldnt be able to control the whole map, this is a hero design problem and a map design problem…, she is objectively a bad design for this type of game. go watch Kenzo and come back and tell me you think that hero is fair…ill wait.

Wtf are u talking about? In the game where are some objects to win the game, can Widow control a whole area! How is it healthy for the game?? Snipers are healthy in snipers game, where every player can decide to swap to sniper and shoot each other, aka play the same style. In Ow is important a team play, and sorry that I must inform you, but getting 1-shotted as soon as you try to put step on object has nothing to do with it! There are 80+% players who doesnt plays Widow at all… so they have to suffer from bad balance and this nonsense?
This is seen from Masters and above, where when a team gets both dps a non-Widow vs enemy Widow, they cannt do anything. Its insane how 1 hero can hold whole enemy team as hostage - and you call it healthy fot the game

This works on a deathmatch game where Widow has no way to force you to engage on her range.

In a game where the only way to win is to be for extended periods of time in an open space?

Thats what forced GOATS into existence.
