RWBY Collab, thoughts?

so you just want a circle jerk - everyone being hyped and happy. Got it. The world is already cruel enough. No hard truths for your poor fragile soul

as with every collab (in my mind with this one the most so far) there is people that dont like or dont care for a collab. That position is as legit as being happy or hyped for the collab.

actually i love penny being echo way more.

even if viz bought rwby the fandom is still completely dead and the story took errrrr an interesting direction. this by far is the deadest its ever been lol

Its dead.

If its only doing as good as a netflix show.

It’s dead. Small audience and all.

Not at all

Viz plans to move forward with it, ergo it isnt dead

Dead as a doorknob.

Half the people here don’t know or don’t care. The other half is split between “oh yeah. Atched that before” to “RWBY isn’t dead guys! Give it another ten years, promise! Trust bro!”

It’s dead.

except it isnt

at all

companies who pay to purchase an ip from another company have an interest in making money with the purchased ip

Except it is.

Face the fanbase is split to shizz.

Dead giveaway right there.

I have already fully clarified that the ip now has been purchased by a new owner with the ways and means to keep it going, and ergo, it isnt dead or anything close to dead.

With that fully clarified, i will not be addressing this particular subject any further in this side conversation

Sounds more like whale hunting.

Best to do so away from prying eyes.

Mercy. A older woman and a doctor. Slender and tall.

Well someone wanted Mercy to be Bulma, so which is it?
Mel = Bulma and Mercy =21
Or Mercy = Bulma and Mei = 21?
Don’t make me have Mei be Arale, It will not end well for everyone.

It looked prettier, but the story nosedived…Hard…

That show was made with the budget of 3 bananas in a basement.
They spent more money on voice acting than everything else combined

they own Pokemon, Doraemon, Dragonball, Detective Conan, DrStone, Naruto, One Piece, One Punch Man… just a few lesser known IPs, nothing much really

I started watching RWBY after Monty’s passing. And sure it wasn’t the best animated, but the love put in was palpable. Blake was my character, then they turned her abusive at the start of s4 for no reason. Then brought the chameleon girl in an obvious ham-fisted way to pound the “I’m different but just like everyone else” point home. Then tried to make her Blake’s love interest, tossed that out because the fans wanted Bumblebee. Then turned her from a independent character who could hold her own to simply a damsel in distress who needs Yang to function.

The final nail in the coffin for me was how Raven a woman would would abandon her kids for power, and has a “everybody gets one” save rule got so close to her goal she strove for years, simply apologized and left. Despite them clearing hinting at the confrontation that was going to take place.

After that I kept my ear to it, but I heard they brought Penny back just to have the one guy who watched the girl he liked reduced to ashes, have to Mercy kill her just after she became a full human like 15 minutes ago, after coming back to life.

And from there my love for the series left as fast as it came. I still recommend the series but warn it falls off post s3

No that belongs to Bandai/Nintendo.

Deagonball belongs to Toei Animations Akira Toriyama.

Looking further into it Viz make anime and manga.

So its probably a liscensing thing to create stuff but not really own it, just a portion of the property they make promoting such a copyright.

So yes…dead. A lot of tgeir shonene stuff are super old or just unheard of. Especially since Korean Manga are booming right now.

Mainstream anime and manga are notorious for being lower quality then other things you can read or watch. And its no secret that these big companies go heavy on tje cppyright infringement and suppress creative manifestations made bt their fanbase because “that’s my image, that’s my property” BS.

Sounds dead to me.

actually it’s Nintendo/Gamefreaks

This one is shared between Akira, Toei, Shueisha, Bandai and Funimation. And Shueisha IS Viz

But Viz isnt just a production company, it’s also publishing company. Viz is a subsidiary of Shogakukan-Shueisha, which own the production and publishing rights to ALL of those franchises.
A franchise can be owned by multiple companies, the same way Spider-man is owned by both Marvel/Disney and Sony.

not sure if it’s actually unheard of or it’s just you being ignorance

lol booming so hard they literally have to outsource their biggest name to Japan, right ?

This would only make sense if they created RWBY, and now buying it back to “keep their image”.

You can try to downplay it all you want :man_shrugging: doesnt change the fact that it’s now being owned by literally the biggest anime/manga publisher in the world. It’s a million time better than being own by the tiny Rooster Teeth and have to carry all of their other shows,or being owned by David freaking Zaslav

Well said, McD

The franchise is very much alive as of this acquisition, despite baseless claims by other forum members

I will readily admit that the production as a whole was much better while Monty was alive, but I think it is still pretty good.

I kinda look at the most recent season as filler, tho, and hope they get back heavily into the main story going forward

They need to hire the Mei artists.
