Role queue time solution

I feel like the solution to role queue times was right in front of their faces all along and frankly it may cut down on toxicity a bit too. So to start 5v5 was introduced as an answer to high dps times. I wont beat around the bush ive hated it and as someone who was a sigma main coming into OW2 it was terrible. Tank mains put themselves on the line all game and get the blame for almost everything.
The solution to role queue times should have been none other than getting rid of role queues all together i get it many will find it problematic and cry about it. But instead there should have just been forced roles. Everything by random with a system that ensures no one has to play one role all the time. I know people who would only queue as dps for months at a time in OW1. I also know people who only would queue stuff like healer all the time because they hadnt felt like waiting. Had a friend who started the last year of ow and they only got to try dps characters out twice. Its laughable.
Last point as I said to start I believe it could cut down on toxicity because people who (as i just mentioned) play one role all the time lose touch of the other roles and have ridiculous explectations for how the other roles should be have like healers who are getting targeted all game by a sombra tracer or genji flank get complained about the minute they start fighting back their attackers instead of healing.
So yeah this to me should have been the answer instead of ruining the game at one point the game felt more like cod than ow1 it was just a bunch of people kill seeking. Tanks were able to run around and do what they pleased dps werent dps more like dart throwers hoping to finish off the tank’s scraps and healers were healers but spent more time defending themselves because tank and dps ran off to get as many kills as possible. The game had lost all order. The current 6v6 is cool but its made me completely stop playing 5v5 entirely.

That is a solution.

The other is to find a way to make people want to play tank. Which is the root cause of long queues.

While your “solution” would help queue times, I think it would be the most hated system for the game. A big reason why so many people like role queue is being able to play the role they want to.

Not in a 5v5 system all they did was make tanks feel unstoppable until you came across a team with better composition

U can play any role u want in oq?wat are u on about?
Ppl like rq cause it gives them a lot of stability when choosing a comp

Yes but thats also why every persons with main character syndrome queued dps everyday for months. Then were lost when they played other roles. Ppl would have hated it at first but it would have been way better than what 5v5 has done up until now and would have taken alot less extreme balancing. In addition it would make it so that no one loses to

Idk how they can make people want to be tanks tho. Tanks in pretty much every game are the least popular role. People didn’t pick them in 6v6 when they were still good. People don’t want to pick them in 5v5 when they are by far the strongest heroes in the game. What can blizz really do short of making them so op and game breaking for people to pick them?

I wasn’t talking about open queue, I was talking about role queue vs the OP’s suggestion.

But yes, people can pick any role they want in open queue, but often that meant making a bad comp. so if they cared more about winning, they were forced to flex to other roles than the one they wanted to play.

Also makes people one trick ponies. And expect healers to be john wick to defend themselves and heal and tanks to be rambo to defend everyone and deal high damage.

It isn’t just about dps. Seems at this point support is pretty much as popular. Point is your system makes people play roles they don’t want, and while you may be fine with getting any of the 3, others will dislike that.

Sorry but that sounds like weakling talk.pick what u want, get stronger in face of adversity and go at it again.ur team is only there for one match, the skillset u hone through playing is whats going to make u climb

It make people farmiliar with all roles and the same time builds their proficiency across the board.

Weakling talk? You mean meta talk, it’s what consistently happened at high ranks. Maybe lower ranks could frequently get away with bad comps, idk. Point still remains role queue gives people the most choice on what role they get to play.

Lmao im good at any role and play every role well which is why i have NO issues with this system what you said literally descibes you

People don’t want to play all the roles tho. That is quite clear. For people who do, maybe your system would be decent. But a ton of the playerbase mainly like 1 or 2 roles. Forcing them onto a role they don’t want to play, doesn’t sound like a great solution.

I get it that and understand but thats apart of what makes role queue times a problem. When a large part of the player base is more proficent in all roles it makes that less of an issue and gives way for them to make more heros that cover more peoples individual play styles

Forced roles through an automatic system? Sure, as long as I can just leave every game where I’m forced to play a role I don’t want to, then go ahead! Besides, this wouldn’t work for ranked at all since the system would force me to play a role I don’t want to play and am absolutely terrible at. That would mean I’d tank my own rank without having a choice in the matter.

What’s worse is that I’d also negatively affect the ranks of other players.

This system would be absolutely, and I mean absolutely, terrible!

I agree that RQ queue times can be a problem, imo it’s pretty much the only major negative of the system. And while your idea, or open queue solves the queue time problem, it introduces others.

In the end is picking your poison, which issues are people more okay with. And in most ranks queues aren’t that big of an issue, mainly affects people at the very top and very bottom. I think most people would rather wait a min or 2 to be able to play what they want, instead of being thrown into matches on roles they don’t like. I can’t even imagine how much quitting would happened before matches start when people get roles they don’t like.

I assume their system could still have role specific mmr. Since it would be making the matches and giving you the role. Would be different than open queue where it could only be 1 mmr. Not that I like their idea of giving random roles, even tho I play all 3.
