Role queue ruining open queue experience

Revert the tank changes you literally messed up an entire mode. I refuse to play role queue and the tank changes are dumb. This mode was meant for players that like swapping heroes based of map selection. Why make it a i need to play like role queue clone. Today the game died for me.

Tanks are balanced with 1 per team in mind, that is why having more than 1 tank is straight up better than having dps. With this change, you can still have more than 1 tank, but they will be less overpowered, and having more than 1 dps will not lose the match.

3 tanks 2 supports meta is gone.

Open queue should just be removed entirely. As for arcade well it’s not the official format or game modes so balancing should not be determined by them. Deal with it

There are FAR less rolls in OP than RQ which was the main reason I stopped playing RQ. It sounds like it would be an issue in theory but it’s not at all. 3-0-2 only SOMETIMES works and most of the time it’s 2-2-1 or 2-1-2 and I have a much better time. I have no seen ONE complaint about this. Who asked for this?

I have seen a lot of complaints here in the forums about tanks ruining non role queue modes, and while here people complain about everything, this one was legit.

That does not change that having 3 tanks is very optimal. 1 tank can easily duel 1 or even 2 dps who try to flank supports, and 1 tank is more useful diving than a dps character. Then, 1 tank on the frontline protecting the team and pushing/defending point.

Call it anecdotal evidence but I’ve only seen that work a few times. The vast majority of the time, the tanks slow movement speed is taken advantage of. This is especially true for sniper friendly maps. And even so, if it’s a problem, someone can switch to a tank if they want. That’s the beauty of OQ.

Today is also the day that they are balancing open queue tank health pools so you might want to reconsider

my dude doesnt know winston dva and ball

the issue is that it is the optimum strat not that it is done every time.

You can still switch heroes, but honestly, with tanks that strong, some heroes are more useless than in RQ like Sym or Mei. With this change, Blizzard is trying to make all heroes viable in OQ and do not fear tanks.

I do not usually play OQ, though.

Um, OQ is the reason they made the tank changes. They didn’t touch RQ. Good cope though.

The changes happened because it was needed….regardless of RQ or not….

The tanks themselves are balanced around the idea of there being 1…that not being the case completely breaks all the nonRQ modes

Now that doesn’t mean the choice is the CORRECT one….but a change was necessary….hopefully they follow up on it and monitor how it goes and adjust from there

My fam needs to read the first 6 words of that quote and followed that by the first 4 of the initial post. I know it’s not a one size fit all statement. Almost nothing is when it comes to this game. There’s always going to be something like that to be for and against any problem. I’m just saying this is a net negative. There were bigger problems for Blizzard to tackle and if someone didn’t like it, then they would fit into RQ better than I would have.

You have more control this way, Such as if you see a DPS that’s doing very well and you feel you would yield better swapping to support to assist them.

you cant just put a qualifier on a general statement and use it as evidence that there are no exception. (i.e. except when there is a fire my house doesnt burn down). so yah i am not letting that go.

and as for bigger problems, yes there are, but for most people OQ was unfun and unplayable unless you wanted to play tank. there was no more optimum strat than going many tanks. and if your opponent didnt you just won. and the fix is relatively easy, notice that the mobility and damage oriented tanks mainly got nerfed for OQ.

there is control and there is the illusion of control. assuming everyone is playing to win. and that there is one strategy that is both easier and is more effective than others, wouldnt the majority choose to use that strategy. and wouldnt by the very nature cause everyone else to follow suit so they are not left behind?

it is just that simple. a forced choice is no choice at all. if you have only one choice that is likely to win and the rest are likely to lose, do you have really have a choice? no.

lmao check leaderboard, literally EVERYONE using tanks

Even tho I haven’t played OQ with the new balance, me, as a OW1 and 2 OQ enjoyer and a ball/mei main, I think it’s a good change. Mainly because ball is dog water against 3 fully hp busted CC tanks like orisa, hog and sigma. In almost all my OQ matches it all came down who was the team who switched to 3 cancer tanks the quicker.

A very fun game mode was turned into cancer with OW2, so I think this is a good step in the correct direction for OQ.

I just disagree with that whole premise i also main tank and only play open queue and im on the verge of my first uninstall since overwatchs beta 1.

im so confused, do the people complaining about these changes actually think a meta where dps isnt even a viable role is at all healthy? its a ranked game mode, balance and game health are important. sorry you cant abuse goats anymore though i guess lol.

Yeah but it’s not fun for 250hp or less heroes, it’s only fun for the tanks, and since tanks are hyperbusted, the most busted tanks win, easy as that, so we’re back to goats, so is not also fun for lesser tanks as well.

OW1 OQ was NOT goats every single game while OW2 OQ IS goats every single game, something went wrong there and hopefully this fixes it.

Im just gonna uninstall all i see is ppl who play role queue tell me why my mode is broken and should be more like theres.… oh you like apples but we only like oranges. So we got rid of all the apples and only kept oranges and you should be happy. Tf?

I see it as ā€œtanks are a completele balance failure in OW2ā€, so this might actually help open queue become even better now than RQ. I really don’t know, haven’t played yet, so we’ll see.
