Could you at least list all the problems role queue fixed? Iâm pretty sure I nailed all three of them. The list of problems caused by role queue is fairly long so itâs not like you could match them anyway.
Too bad tens of millions of players over the past 6 years disagree, as seen by the shrinking playerbase. Not even new players can replace the ones leaving in droves due to awful match quality. If 2-2-2 was infinitely better like you claim then the player population would have grown after 2019 when we were still getting content, not collapse.
Why would I do that? The whole game sucks to play now compared to years ago, including nu-OpenQueue. Itâs better than RoleQueue, but OW is practically unplayable unless you 6-stack OR you donât care about winning or losing at all.
No one should be forced into a role they donât want to play, the game didnât come out as RQ it was launched as flex.
People cried that people werenât picking heroâs they should, but those same people didnât flex either. So the whingers got their way, we got 20+ mins on a good day to play dps and the game died in the butt.
oh there will be those that think the game died because of lack of content etc, but in reality, it died due to the fact that NO-ONE should be forced into any role when the game was never created that way.
MAKING people play other roles is the creation of strife. Prove me wrong.
Yes. Because David beat Goliath that one time totally means you should intentionally put yourself at a disadvantage. The fact youâve âseen it happenâ doesnât make it a reasonable choice, it takes a considerable skill difference to pull that off, in which case it doesnât really matter what you pick, at some point you can have 6 pistol mercies beating a 2-2-2
You believe that 2âs work better over flex where people can change it up to compensate for the one trick hogs etc that never change.
You blame a tank/dps/heals when they arenât performing to your standards, yet you rally around forced as being superior in nature. Yet as a dps in forced I am unable to swap roles with a tank/healer or even go those roles for a while to help out. Everyone whingers over one tricks etc. Forced created this problem, I for one, after 20+ minutes for dps role, will play what I like even at the detriment of the team, WHY, because its my right as a consumer and also its not against the rules to play said role, regardless of the outcome.
Now flex allowed people to adjust to the enemy team on the fly, forced allows nothing but selfish gameplay.
I forget the details myself. But I do recall Jeff said he was originally against forcing roles. RoleQueue was absolutely a desperate attempt to save OWL and excuse current and future bad hero designs. It also killed 4+ dps comps in low rank lobbies at the same time as a bonus. They clearly didnât think hard about all the potential negatives.
Funny enough 2-2-2 confirmed what the real problems with the game were. Bad management and bad hero design. Sigma immediately caused a stale year of double barrier ruining another OWL season and the tank role for everyone else. The harsh 2-2-2 changes basically became pointless and Hero Pools had to be added to OWL to save it.
Ignoring what? Everyone knows about the existence OpenQueue tab. Itâs not even remotely the same experience as 2016-2017 OW. This thread topic is about RoleQueue tanking the game for the worse, which it did. Why is it whenever I see a mf drop some harsh truths about 2-2-2 defenders resort to the âthen play openqueueâ card? Is that all the ammo you people have left?
No one wants to play your game anymore. Like 98% of the players left
Itâs interesting people usually donât like to play tanks and to play against barriers. but it seems blizz really obsessed to educate people to play tanks. For what?
To me it felt like RQ was rushed and feedback was ignored, now it feels as if Blizzard or the Community deems it as taboo to go against RQ.
If RQ could become the main mode without that much experimenting and feedback between player and dev, why canât we try to revert it again?
Many of the issues it tried to fix have been fixed or have gone in the opposite direction, still plenty of other things we could try to fix those issues too.
I donât see why we shouldnât revert it, there was a big part (to me it felt like the largest part of the playerbase) that said RQ shouldnât replace OQ.
The main point is to test it and see how it goes, we do a 2 to 4 week beta period and then we fully initialize it.
I do personally feel that it has killed the game, so many players have left and it kind of has lost itâs spark.
Originality in comps had been lost and it just wasnât that fun anymore to even watch the game.
I really wonder why they just decided to do it out of the blue, there were so many options they couldâve taken from there.
Since that first drastic change⌠well it has just kept coming.
If they are open about reverting changes, why not start with this?
Cleaning up becomes much easier if you try to get at the root of it.
It 1000% killed it but mindless fools who canât accept that certain heroes needed actual changes are why we have it. Role Queue was a band-aid fix for balance problems for the heroes just as much as 5v5 will be. Both are not fixes to balance problems but people here donât understand that both are being treated in this form.
Of course everyone here thinks RQ is great. They wouldnât be playing the game if they didnât. You have to also ask everyone that quit to have an idea of what it did for the game.
I think matchmaking killed the game. Even the dumb devs themselves said that they need to do a better job of not placing people in unwinnable games. But this has been getting progressively worse, especially in QP. I think theyâre just incompetent.
Yea I have absolutely no hope at all for that to go well honestly. They can try but no way it wonât be a huge mess, probably bigger than the transition from open queue to role queue.
