Queue as DPS for 8 minutes, guy leaves. Queue again for 10, another guy leaves. Now I’m in queue again. It has literally been 28 minutes since I got out of a game. I’m not really enticed to keep playing this game if I have to wait 28 minutes often to play as DPS. Is there some type of system so if you Queue as DPS and a healer or tank leaves, you jump to the front next Queue?
I feel like you guys are unnecessarily putting yourselves into the strategy of the game. People locked multi-DPS often for a reason, same as that they did GOATS for a reason. Forcing the 2-2-2 eliminates a whole lot of different user-created strategies. Why?
Some players are horribly mismatched in some circumstances. No more can a DPS swap to tank if they play horribly one round, etc. This used to happen a lot.
How? I still see smurfing, toxcicity (even more than before), and throwing. And before you say that it fixes the 4-5 dps comps, they were already rare, I can think of mabye one or two times I’ve seen that in 8 seasons. And those same people now have to play tank/heal if they want the cp or if they just want to jump the queue times, so it really didn’t do much
i swear whenever you guys pretend everyone was going 5 or 6 dps prior to role que, it’s a complete lie. And given the fact that ‘dps’ accounts for twice the number of classes than tanks/healers, proportionally there would have been more playing DPS in a free choice of role system anyways.
I am new to these forums but i’m really surprised at how so many people here pretend pre role que had so many issues. I’ve played a lot of this game and i’d swear we usually had a healer and tank at the least almost every game i’ve played in comp. and all it really took pre role que was a rein and mercy, not 2 tanks and 2 healers, but somehow now that is mandatory.
it just feels like this whole pro role que movement pretending like pre role que was so awful is based on a lot of fallacies.
i played thousends of games and i would set 20-30% where i had 4dps in my game. not always at start but when people got tilted and swap. 80% of those swapping made it a even more clear loss
The problem wasn’t necessarily 4-5 dps comps, but people having to flex on to roles they were unfamiliar with, and didn’t want to play during that game.
So you would have a diamond dps flexing to support when they play as a gold support.
Now that player is frustrated because they aren’t playing what they want, their team is frustrated because they are underperforming for their role, and the whole game becomes toxic.
With 2-2-2 you have SR per role, and you know the person queued for the role they wanted to play. Less toxicity, more accurate match making, and happier players.
This is the beta season, and I will admit SR is a little wonky, but in time people will be better placed either higher or lower on their roles and it will be better.
because i don’t think any of that is remotely worth taking away player freedom of choice and ability to swap based on their ability to play multiples of classes well in different roles which IS a skill of tactical counter knowledge btw, and turn things around to make up for the bad players to win those games. this happened frequently prior to role que btw. now we’re all forced to suffer this slow torturous death of waiting out until the game ends because u have some bads who suck in crucial roles to win.
forgive me if i don’t share your opinion that things will be better than pre role que. you seem to have completely different priorities than me of what is important and good for the game. In my experience your scenario of ‘flexing’ was rarely an issue since most people can play multiples of classes in this game. If 2 people wanted to play the same class, it was first come first serve, or they could agree to swap. same with roles. it’s not like most people didnt want to win from the start. how is that such a big issue, and more important than taking away our freedom of choices?
The player base has made it clear 3 years after release that they hardly ever communicate effectively to resolve the issue.
I was a player would would flex between support and tank pre 2-2-2, and I don’t see your concerns as a problem.
You’re entitled to your opinion as I am, but it appears to me that you’re over-inflating the problem to justify your point of view. The deva have made their decision, I don’t see them changing it back, learn to cope or quit.
What im seeing alot of lately is double off tanks, no shields, double oddball dps (sym sombra for example), and dps moiras, oh my god DPS MOIRAS are invading the system. For the love of god take the ability of moira to right click away from her because its EVERYWHERE. DPS are tired of waiting ten minutes a q and decide to just play DPS moira and the rest of the team is frustrated as hell because I CANT LEAVE THIS CRAP GAME UNTIL I LOSE, I REFUSE TO STAY IN A GAME THAT I KNOW IM GOING TO LOSE FOR 5+ MINUTES WHILE OUR HEALERS JUMP OFF THE EDGE OR DPS.
become a boring game you mean, i already hate this game as it stands, i cannot stand the q times, the rigidity of the system that keeps you from doing what you want to do.
If this gets implimented i will quit the game for sure this time, its boring as hell and i hate it. The only reason blizzard is enforcing role q is because of GOATS in the OWL, not because it is better for the game. Its because if OWL fails then blizzard stands to lose a ton of money.
just curious but do u mostly premade in full groups? or are u regularly solo queing?
honestly, your ‘flex issue’ is laughable to me, and such a small issue that i rarely experienced prior to role que, that i am not sure if we’re playing the same game. Even if i did experience that it’s not that big of a issue in a open choice system because players switch/adapt as the enemy shows itself. even you making light of the current role que issues makes me think we’re playing different games tbh.
yeah i know blizzard are very stubborn and they already spent dev time on it so they wont go back and we’re stuck with this garbage, but i swear the issues a lot of you cite about pre-role que are so much more minor than the issues now. it’s crazy to me how some of you rationalize that.
Why do you supposed the issues you perceive are so much less important than the ones I perceive?
To be clear I think the problem of 5 dps games is overblown, but people being forced on to roles they don’t want and playing roles they are uncomfortable at is a legitimate problem. Not every player can perform at every role at their current rank.
Also, I have played the game extensively in solo queue and prepares, though to be as honest as possible the last couple of seasons solo queue.
i dont really get how you are acting like people being “forced on to roles they didn’t want to play” in the prior system was so prevalent because i swear i did not experience that. I mean i’m sure there were games where someone reluctantly had to go mercy because nobody wanted to heal but i swear when did that become this big issue? i must have missed that. you said 3 years of players voicing this issue right? damn i had no idea lol… a lot of times pre role que there would be players waiting for players to pick and would fill out. in fact i’d say most of the time there were players doing that so i’m just not sure about all of these players having that flex issue and the concern being so unanimous as you imply.
because greater toxicity and blame on people in voice for not fulfilling their roles well and sucking, the frustration of slowly losing with the inability to switch roles knowing you can make a difference, and most importantly taking away our freedoms rather significantly has to be more important than this ‘flex’ issue. I dont know how you could logically see that otherwise.
even now with extremely lopsided DPS que times it’s not like we’re getting better players at roles so i’m not sure where you’re pretending like it’s made things better. i swear i’m playing a completely different game than some of you if you are getting really good players in every role and everything is happy-go-lucky with the new system.
if you premade only you really cant speak on the issues.
I queue dps and the queue times are not as bad as you state. I never had a problem with dps queue times on PTR, and have never had dps queue time issues on either of my accounts.
Yes, there are many many players that do not have the situational awareness or game sense to play rank or support well.
I don’t know how you think players you view as substandard at their role at your rank will sustain that rank unless you’re equally as bad or good as them.
If a player is genuinely awful at dps/tank/support in time they will fall. In time you will have a larger number or dps/tank/supports that match your level of skill.
So either you overestimate you ability and blame others for your losses, or you have made a quick decision that 2-2-2 sucks because you had some bad games.
