The problem isn’t players refusing to play the Meta, it’s players refusing to switch according to the situation.
As a healer it’s frustrating to see the opponents playing barrier watch and nobody bother to switch to a shield buster.
Once again, come back after a hiatus for a new patch and reminded again why I quiet.
Till the next hero release folks!

How is this an issue with Role Queue?

I think roll que has helped at least allow people to play yhe roll they want which is a big factor in over all game enjoyment. If you are a DPS main and forced to play healer over and over you’ll give up, throw games and lose interest.
Refusal to switch to proper counters (reaper for winston, hitscan for pharah ext) is a problem thats just going to be in this game forever. But there are ways around it. Only que with 3 or more (which party finder was made for) is the best option. Solo quing as always been a mixed bag anyway.

Role que wasnt supposed to make your team mates always be good and make the correct decisions. This isnt a failure on role ques part. You had a bad team, move on to the next game

Thats always been a problem, nd role queue was never intended to fix that.

As a support, you could switch to Zenyatta and spam a good amount of damage into the barriers yourself, or to Lucio and boop people out from behind their barriers…

My guess:
Because they couldn’t try to make up (by switching to a shield buster) for their team’s lackluster decissions.

I have exactly the same problem.
There should be an extra role for “Main and off Tank”
i freaking love all these “role queue fails” after like what? Two days tops?
When we also know that the matchmaker is still being updated and the role sr system is still a bit broken?
I mean, it’s called BETA season for a reason, the game is still trying to pick up data to place people more fairly and iron out the kinks of the matchmaking to reduce queue times 'n stuff
Medicine failed, because it didn’t give me immortality.
Anything less than immortality is a failure.

The search times would become insanely long if they started adding queues for separate subclasses (I’d guess at least 2-3x longer than they are now), not a good idea.
Tank and support was begrudgingly filled by peolle who wanted to dps but did not want to throw the game without a heal/tank. So most the people who play tank and support willingly understand it and work better with the partner they get in RQ. DPS however I have noticed are wildly inconsistent in with RQ so for the next month I picture it will be tanks and healers that carry matches in sub 3k sr games.
As much as I hate 2 2 2 this is not related.
It is related to the Shield Avoidance Syndrome. Shields are a priority to destroy, EVERYONE, including healers should try to destroy them fast.
Apparently this syndrome affects mainly low ranks but it is also seen frequently on Diamond, Plat and sometimes Master.
Just.Shoot.The.God.Damned.Shield.
Aside from the launch day hiccups and the matchmaking issues that the beta is intended to uncover, role queue has been very successful so far.
The issues that you talk about have nothing to do with role queue. Those issues have existed for a long as Overwatch has existed.
Was role queue supposed to magically solve the internet? You know there is a solution to your problem OP. You could join a clan.
Role queue was never supposed to solve all toxic/bad behavior in Overwatch, and expecting it to do so was unrealistic. Expecting that solution to fall into your lap is unrealistic as well, and more than a little entitled. Heaven forbid you make make a little effort to improve your own experience, am I right?

I love the way role q hasn’t even left beta and you’re already labeling it a failure. This is just more badly disguised anti role q properganda. This issue you care to mention is one of bafoons for teamates - they’ve been their since the game launched and will remain no matter what system you implement. All you can do is try to improve the match quality, which I think has happened for the most part.
Alternatively, if you can’t get your team to shoot the barriers, you can try convincing them to play dive if [the enemies] aren’t playing bunker.
Barriers aren’t a problem if they’re behind you :^)
I find now a match in like 20sec to 2 mins max even in the night.
I wouldnt care searching 10mins for a good match
