Roadhog nerfed, again

Honestly didn’t think he could be worse than he is right now but his rework heavily nerfed him adding a junkrat trap to compensate. This doesn’t work. 10 months fora junkrat trap? No team assisting ability? It’s over

The rework looks pretty underwhelming on paper. Cyx said a couple times that he’s objectively better now though. I guess we’ll see.

That’s what happens when game is done by committee, take so long with little to show for it…

I think we can wait a few days to have an actual opinion, instead of making claims like this with just some information. People did exactly that with sombra, tons of posts saying that she will be trash etc. And then we got her, and she was better for most people, not trash like others claimed before there was even gameplay of her.

What do you think makes this a nerf though? You just said he has a junk rat trap and then that’s it. What makes him worst?

The team assisting ability is his hook, which is still the same, and his new aoe slow. You grab the enemy tank from their team, put them in the slow field, and poof. Roadhog has never been about team utility anyway, so reworking him to be a team player suddenly wouldn’t have made much sense.

There’s no way you think the trap of all things is underpowered. It does 30 damage for every individual second someone is stuck in it for the 3 second duration its up plus 60 impact damage when it’s activated. Not to mention you’re movement speed is slowed to 40% while in it’s 4 meter radius.

Oh and once it’s placed, just like a junkrat trap, it starts the cooldown immediately so you can place another instantly after one depletes.

As long hogs primary fire isn’t pathetic (which it doesn’t seem like it will be), hog is going to be busted out the gate. Thankfully he’s losing 200 hp to compensate.

I think hog is going to become unkillable if nobody on the enemy team is hard-countering him. But as soon as he gets countered, he won’t be able to do much and be forced to swap. I don’t know if this is the right direction with tanking, but I guess it’s here to stay.

Swap and dominate the match until you get hard-countered. Dominate the match again as another tank until you get hard-countered and forced to swap. Rinse and repeat.

I much prefer Junker Queen and doomfist’s design when it comes to tanking without shield. Doom can be a bit OP at times but both tanks are still killable and doesn’t become immortal like orisa, wrecking ball, and now possibly roadhog when he isn’t countered.

What you saw was Roadhog in the practice range and every tank there has less HP

So. You have more control over rebreather, hook and shotgun combos are still bread and butter, whole hog remains unchanged, then they added a trap slow.

Its actually net buffs when you think about it.

Because now you can’t bait out rebreather you need to dry out Hog’s resource bar, which calls for different playstyles against him.

With a trap slow he can deny more areas and it only further helps to set up for both hook and whole hog combos.

Minus the damage reduction decrease he got buffs towards pretty much everything.

Even just simlplyfing how his gun works further decreases his skill flooring and inadvertantly teache hog players what optimal range they can play in.

The trap slow itself helps greatly with an issue that hog has had to endure for a long time and that’s when an enemy team piles on the roadhog. If a Hog cannot pick off enemies fast enough they go down quick the slow trap provides self peel and more control over fights which is huge for any tank.

Well that’s unfortunate if true. Though I could’ve sworn that tanks had more HP than that in the range because I would frequently use it to check the numbers in the past.

It’s how I memorized hog having 600 hp in OW1 and then getting an additional 100 when moving to OW2.

Apparently not

This change happened when they reduced HP of tanks in arcade
Somehow it also applied to the practice range

How is his left click melee combo after hook now?
Worse than currently? Better?

Think about it this way. You can hook into your slow trap and then they cannot escape.

So you can still do the ole hook, shot melee. But now you get a trap slow field that adds more dps to the combo.

He probably has his one shot returned now with all that available dps.

I don’t see how this is a nerf though. The take a breather change alone is going to make him stronger against his tank counters. Orisa and Sigma can’t just javelin you out of your breather and put you on cooldown, leaving you dead in the water.

According to Cyx you can now die to DVA bomb even when using breather though, so slight buff to DVA.

Hog now has more utility and versatility, which imo makes him stronger and increases his skill ceiling.

More damage more healing less damage resistans but more control over self healing a new ability and more range. i dont see the nerf here.

The gave him more healing with more control but ledd damage resistance gave him more range and damage so still lost on how its a nerf

Better it does more damage so he can one shot again hook shoot melee kills again if the damage number they give are correct
