Roadhog rides again! finally after years of waiting for them to undo this horrible rework, it’s finally happening. hog 1.0 was perfect the way he was and never needed a rework. the rework just dumbed him down removing all skill based things and made him easy to play. pig pen did not fit him and he should not need it to one shot. getting good at his right click is very difficult and if mastered you can truly be different compared to other hog players. and don’t even get me started on his resource breather. it was too good. they had to nerf it so much to make it not busted. u can just heal without a worry of getting stunned since u could just vape again immediately. thank you blizzard for finally reverting his rework. time to get them juicy right clicks once again boys

All it takes is one Mauga and Hog’s cooked completely.
It was already easy to force Hog to use breather but at least he could pull it straight back out if Mauga stomped him.
Now Mauga can force it, stomp him, then continue shredding him without having to worry about damage reduction or healing

go to the overwatch press center website and scroll down a bit and u can see a ss of all the new perks being added and u can see hog’s kit is reverted, this is an official blizzard website btw so it’s not fake.

The crazy thing is that he didn’t even need Pen to Hook+HS+Melee combo a 250 HP target to kill them. Pen was literally just a bonus.
I only hope that Vape will no longer be a resource.
That’s cool, but Hog needs the resource breather to be semi functional in the game’s current state.
One Mauga is literally all it takes
yea but it was very inconsistent and u had to hit every pellet to the head, so if u hooked someone on high ground or off high ground with no pig pen or pre shot, u wouldn’t be able to one shot them since u wont be able to land all headshots, thats why flank hog wasnt that good in 6v6 since they kept his rework for 6v6. but if they give him a consistent one shot back he will be able to fully embrace the off tank role once again.
I don’t know why some people think old Roadhog was better. Is it fun to pop someone with the secondary? Yes, but that’s it, it’s only fun and it’s only that.
New Roadhog is just a better character
Not really. Mauga just needs to be changed in a way that doesn’t enable him to sit in the open and go ham into a tank. Ignite 100% should not be a thing.
Do that and you just kill Mauga the same way they’ll kill Hog with a revert.
Mauga needs to be able to hold space and the only way he can do that is with cardiac and high DOT.
Mauga’s design is inherently just a complete hard counter to Hog, he can easily force breather and Hog can’t out damage him or his cardiac.
Reverting the rework just makes it a giga counter.
It’s called block his damage with any of the numerous tanks that can do that. If he can’t deal damage effectively, he can’t heal. If he can’t heal, he’s pretty easy to stomp.
And there you said it. It is a design flaw. He should be changed so that his gameplay loop is more than just ‘stat check other annoying tank’.
I am not convinced yet.

Don’t celebrate just yet. We don’t know if Vape is being restored to cooldown or not.
That’s the least of my concern. What is his shotgun damage? Did they reduce his spread? Does he still have that stupid slug in there? Lots of questions. And even so, locking his alternative fire behind a perk is already dumb.
Considering the wording, it appears that secondary is gonna be restored to his base kit.
There was no Pen on the card, and the perk appears to buff an already existing element.
I remember playing ow classic and thinking “wow hog can be killed.” If I wanted to kill him, I simply waited for him to use heal before committing my cooldowns. It was so balanced back then.
Yeah, the silence from Blizzard about this is sketchy. The team has been yapping a about the new season non-stop and they never mentioned they have a full rework coming in a few days? Something is weird.
