Roadhog is offensive and does not belong in a modern game

With many games choosing to retroactively remove aspects that do not hold up today, (a measure I fully appreciate), I think it is time Blizzard does the same.

Roadhog is a very offensive stereotype of a plus-sized character. He is crude, ugly, sluggish, and gross. This passed in 2016 as a creative choice, but has completely fallen flat on its face as the game has aged. When I see Roadhog, I see an insensitive design team that does not appreciate all body types, and a refusal from everyone involved to do anything about it.

Please Blizzard, let’s make things right! #RoadhogIsOverParty !!!

How far have the boards fallen to where you can’t bring up real issues without someone thinking you’re lying

I agree we should cancel roadhog for existing

Im genuinely confused… your complaint is that you are offended by roadhogs body type, and then immediately complain that the design team doesnt appreciate all body types… there is nothing wrong with him being “plus sized” as you put it as far as him bein gross he is literally a junker lol. By lore their homes and country were taken from them and when they tried to take it back the explosion eradiated the entire area creating the wasteland outside junkertown so id say his design fits perfectly in that situation.

I agree with you, let Blizzard Concord the ever living ____ out of Overwatch.

I think, or at least hope you are being genuine. I want to see more people like you making these types of decisions.

I’m not offended that Roadhog is plus-sized??? I’m offended that the design team was so insensitive about it.

He’s slow, he guzzles down a huge sloppy drink as an ability, and he’s shirtless and dirty. These aspects are retrospective of a hurtful stereotype.

Yas,

Preach it from the mountaintop.

Lets get all the heroes fixed until you are happy. I support you 100%.

Thank you Nat. Some trolls have decided to flag my post sadly. I hope the mods support me on this!

So if he was exactly the same as he is but wasn’t fat, you wouldn’t be offended? I don’t get it

He’s depicted as a grungy, murder happy mercenary. Most people find him cool. He’s also called Roadhog, and hogs are pretty fat. Everything is thematically appropriate for the character.

If that were the case i woupd agree with you, but Im assuming youve never read the backstories. His grotesque characteristics have nothing to do with being sensitive or not towards body type. After the war where he lost everything(home, family, friends, etc… ) he wandered the wastelands for years until he forgot who he was and lost all traces of humanity becoming known as a heartless killer. If anything i would give them props for showing a good representation of how trauma can effect a person.

We need to push and have everything made for “current day”.

We all need to band together and stop thinking about making the Asian market billions, and start thinking about making them trillions.

Western companies need to set the standard of video game practice and develop for the unicorn that is the modern audience. Only then will our souls be cleansed.

His traits are not an issue in themselves; their correlation with his weight is. There is no issue with a character who is gross, there is a greater issue with a character who’s weight and grossness are linked.

I intend on seeking legal counsel for the blatant abuse of my exact likeness, fashion choices, and beverage decisions.

Ugly? You never even see his face. Do you say he is ugly because of his body?
Thats so offensive!

Satire?

I say ugly because there is no effort on the part of the design team to accentuate the beauty of a plus-sized body

I went ahead and read a few older threads featuring this joker. It doesn’t look it.

But again, if it alligns with my wanted future of the landscape for western game companies, I support this cat 100%

So you’re saying we need GlamSwine?
