Everything is great on the new forums, but if you make a post and it gets no traction, it will die because you can no longer post (aka bump) on your own threads until someone else does. So it has become almost like reddit in a sense where if you have someone important to say, you should try to post it at a peak time and hope it gets traction, if not, it will just die, leaving you to delete it and try again later.
RIP “bumping”

Kind of glad. There’s this annoying person on the WoW forums who constantly bumps her own thread when no one replies to her, even after an hour or two. Can’t wait for this to be implemented throughout the Blizzard games.

I never understood what was wrong with bumping. If I have a question, but nobody sees it the first time, why do I need to make the server hold a new thread when I can just bump the original question?

Yeah, I’ll miss it a little.

Well, it still sucks for those that actually need to. Anyone who made a post recently probably had it buried under the hundreds of new threads.

Well I’d expect that as of right now there are a lot of people posting because of the new shiny forums. It’ll calm down soon enough. Just expect that for now.

Maybe when the karma system kicks in it will show users with higher karma more over just random threads.
So post good and you’ll get more attention?
I’m still not sure what it’s even for yet.

I think they should let you bump your own threads if you have enough trust xD

I understand what you are saying, but at the same time the topic I posted died as I posted it because everyone is distracted by the new forums and it was a very popular topic on the last forums with over 650 upvotes and pages of comments.
So, even though it was a good conversation, there is nothing I can do to try and kick start the convo. The only thing I can do now is delete and repost.
And that kinda sucks

I rarely did it…and tried not to, but it does suck to have a post you put a lot of effort into fall to the depths really quickly; it’s a reason I wanted more sub-forums, since general discussion moves too quickly for ‘idea’ or ‘custom game’ posts to stay in sight.
Which reminds me of a thread I made about this awhile back.
I should go find it.

I would like sub-forums too

Exactly this mate.
(Also min 20 characters is slightly annoying but I understand why its there. But apparently saying “exactly this mate” doesn’t qualify as enough input to a conversation lol)

Tough to say who actually needed to bump a thread. There were so many times it was used to let some petty thread live well beyond what it should have.

My first post on the new forums needs a bump if you dont mind. LOL
My posts are now forced to survive on their own merit?
I’ll allow it.

The problem is there are those who would do it only to get the devs attention and nothing else. They didn’t care if they got downvoted or ignored by others, they only spammed bumped it in hopes of a dev reply

In some ways I’m a little concerned. I’m already familiar with Forum discord communities that are forming (or have already formed) in order to trade likes and bump each others threads. Ugh. It’s not good, but I have no idea how you would stop it under these new restrictions.
I want all posts to survive on their own merit, but with discord communities formed, this just isn’t really the case. I don’t mean to be the bad news bear with this, but it’s just some information to think about.

Oh neat, you can post embedded gifs…
