So there have been postings that ppl who installed Valorant and hence the included anti-cheat software by Riot Games were banned by Blizzard.
So the question is if the anticheat software of Riot causes the Blizzard background-cheat-tool detection to trigger falsely. Or maybe even provokes it (uhh).
Don’t think it’s true because otherwise there would be waaaaay more people here complaining. Valorant had thousands and thousands of players coming from Overwatch.

Either way, it’s just another reason not to install a rootkit.

It wouldn’t surprise me. False bans have happened in the past because of Warden which is what Blizzard uses for anti-cheating in WoW. I have no reason to suspect it’s any different here regardless of what software Blizzard uses to detect programs running in the background.

It’s most likely an older version of Riot Vanguard that some players decided to not uninstall was noticed by the anticheat system overwatch has. Besides that, the banwave did take out some hackers.
As it should.
But damn this is a sneaky one. A sneaky one but not an unwelcome one.
???
Are you saying someone who has been playing Riot games should be banned from playing OW?
There have been players in this recent fiasco that haven’t touched Valorant. Maybe it’s possible in some cases, but not all. It could be that a driver got updated and triggered Blizzard.
No no no damn it no.
I was replying to the part of banning cheaters ya damn REDACTED XD

No, there’s speculation that the anticheat in Valorant(riot’s new shooter) is getting people banned in overwatch since it’s very invasive.
I like a poster above don’t buy it. We would see much more widespread bans if it was true.
More bans mean more false positives.
I mean, that would be good for refining the AC, but then, it would also be really annoying.
At least one of the guys that got banned specifically said they didn’t have Valorant.
I’ve seen at least 3 people confirming they don’t.
im kinda wondering since i just installed phantasy star online 2 recently and that game has gameguard, hopefully that doesnt get me banned somehow

I am almost 5 years late to this post but after playing this game religiously for 15 seasons I’ve now been banned shortly after installing Valorant… literally nothing on my pc has changed between me finishing the latest event and getting banned except the fact that I reinstalled Valorant and riot vanguard. I haven’t even opened OW2 since I installed valorant, 2 days later I got the e-mail saying “NOTICE OF ACCOUNT CLOSURE”
“Account Action: Account Closure - Overwatch Account
Offense: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (“hacks”)”
another thing that might be related: I got banned on MW2019 while it was installing with no explanation and my appeal to Activision got auto rejected, I was “permanently banned for using unauthorized software and manipulation of game data”
