Rigged matching rewards mediocre players

They seem to like me a lot. I get a lot of head shots on Ashe/Hanzo and just can’t help boosting accounts from Gold to Diamond.

I get the feeling the system purposely selects me to have enjoyable games and climb the ladder to where I belong.

In that case, the system is operating pretty good in my opinion.

Edit: Can’t seem to boost accounts past 3600 for some reason though. Guess the system doesn’t want too many low elo players in high elo.

Another rigged match making post…drink!

As mentioned, the problem is arbitrating “fairness” with “close matches”. It involves hidden intervention and handicapping, which is not candid or sincere. And certainly not “fair” in the sense of being impartial to the compatitive nature of the esport.

Personally I like my games unrigged. And I’m sure many gamers do, as well.

Ethically, I want all to gamers to know if what they’re playing is rigged (or not). It should say so right on the label, in big bold font. “The following game is hard-rigged, you will be playing a rigged game on a sham ladder - you can still change ranks - press OK to continue”. Imagine the backlash if that was spotlighted.

As for L2 (50/50 rigging for “fairness” i.e. closeness) - i.e. MMR. Patents applicability asside, MMR by it’s very nature trades away rank, progression, and laddering quality for match quality. There is no free lunch - you either get proper ranks or rigged i.e. fair=close matches. Personally I’d rather have SR/ranks that aren’t a byproduct of overcoming handicapping and rigging.

Unfortunately all games rig their online components, just most good game are better at hiding it, this however isn’t.

For one so fixed on evidence I’d like you to prove this point please. I mean, I don’t doubt there are people in general that don’t learn from mistakes but you opened your mouth about evidence and I can’t see how you can prove this one :stuck_out_tongue:

point 3: what do you even know about gimping? The devs are silent. For a reason I would say, if they had something good to say I’m sure thew would be eager to say it, if for nothing else but for marketing reasons. They remain silent. They could kill these theories with one post on the forums or a few words in a dev blog.
They dont.

Also you not “agreeing” is just bias at play. You don’t agree so obviously this is implaucible to you. it feeds of itself.
The matchmaking patents existence itself makes rigging a plaucible theory. We know both activision blizzard and others deliberately make games grindy for “retention” purposes giving you motive for why it would be done. Before you brush this off as hearsay: They litterally do this in other Activision Blizzard games, making grind as grindy as possible untill people complain enough for them to say “oh we somehow didin’t think this was too grindy even though we’re a multi billion dollar company with 40 years of experience doing this stuff, but we can make it less grindy, sure…”

Think on that. Deliberately making games time consuming and unpleasant knowing it will be so - to keep players playing and paying. Grind is buisness strategy these days.

MMR is the vehicle they have to introduce these mechanics into multiplayer “competitive” shooters - and I think these bastards have. Atleast I will keep believing it untill they just kill it by stating they haven’t.

One thing is clear, it’s not CRAZY to think it’s in the game. The bad games you experience 50% of the time should atleast tell you that match quality is not a priority.

Both of these threads should be stickied as a matter of transparency and disclosure.

Part of the problem is that we know how MM is working and alot of players dont like it. Based on information from jeffs posts alot of people are saying that dont want MM that way. White knights will pop in with insults though any chance they get.

So should i go to bronze if I want great team mates? Better than I have in platinum?

But what if everyone will start following your advice Cuthbert? Then nothing will change.

Thats very strange because all my alts/smurfs climbed, some of them very fast.

I won money at a casino. Still rigged.

What ever lol. Matchmaker is rigged? Excelent, I climbed thanks to that then, multiple accounts on all roles. I guess you cant tell that about casino

Your casino example makes no sense, show me a person who is making money from playing there for 4 years lol. Casino is rigged so everyone eventualy lose.

Oh look I just won again at the casino, despite it being rigged. I guess it’s not THAT rigged. But still the odds/outcomes felt a little kinda rigged tho. Also, we had some pros show up at the little league match - don’t worry, we handicapped both teams with pros and jerry’s kids on either side to make things fair. And those kids won!

Rigging obviously doesnt work when you keep winning

I climb at good rate considering my skill, handicapping is either helping me or its non existent

That’s not how rigging works.

That’s not how handicapping works.

Rigging not working is not how rigging works? LMAO i cant ::grin:

I dont care how it works, i climb because of it, so its a good thing if it exists and i like it.

Rigged system with handicapping+me climbing again and again == I like it and want it to stay.

Thanks for falling into the trap! By design, we want you to enjoy your stay at the casino. We hook you. We show you it’s possible to win, by letting people win every now and then. If you grind enough and play the (rigged) odds - you can of course win. But overall, we handicap your performance and everything is still rigged.

Personally I like my games free of rigging and artificial handicapping. It’s not helping the fairplay integrity of the game, and it’s not helping esports. But you do you! If you need rigged games to feel better about yourself, you’re our kind of player!

I like my games with handicapping and rigging, it helped me to climb to diamond on several accounts and i am on the way there on this one too.

You paid for this game more than once? thanks! rigging working as intended.
Make 'em think they’re good and they’ll keep coming back! Esports bro.

Yeah i did, just like you so why are you suprised? I enjoyed playing on my accounts. What is another 20 bucks for i game i play thousands of hours…worth it.

For many games you pay 60 and play them just few hours.

Because I have eyes, and I assume you do to, and these forums exist. The vast majority of these posts come from low ranked players.

Evidence

Evidence

They have, they have confirmed the use of MMR more than once and it is also used in SC2, a game where I climbed to masters.

As above, MMR is in the game, never said it wasn’t. Confirmed by devs.

And people will always appear yelling the arbitrary phrase ‘white knight’ when someone expresses their opinion

Pretty irrelevant tbh, every game you play doesn’t have 10k riding on it that Blizz gets if you lose.

I mean… You bought a Snickers bar more than once? Rigging?

Like I said, this is an argument of semantics and either having a game where the matches are as fair as they can be, or a free for all, if you want the latter than that’s your choice.

Yep rigged for engagement. We want your cash we don’t care about fairness or esports integrity.
