Seriously, Blizzard, if you’re not gonna speed it up to keep it in line with OW2’s environment, just get rid of it and give her something that’s actually useful for her team.
I think they should give her something that is useful for herself. So she gets to be more independent. No more team dependend victim.
Rather she gets something proactive in use of supporting rather than reactive. If they made such a big deal of Mercy’s only value came from having her teammates die, why keep the mechanic, and then balance the power rest of her kit around said mechanic?
Rez should be an ult.
Change rez and valk and be done with it.
Rez is now instant so its fluid again and valk is now just for 4 seconds active on a 10 sec cooldown and instead of chaining let the healing beam heal 80 HPs and damage boost 50% damage increase.
I wouldn’t mind seeing her have some sort of fly mechanic, like maybe Pharah… Only reason I mention it, is because once I activate that ultimate, it’s pretty much a ‘Get Out of Jail’ card. Only people I really need to worry about is the Auto targeting turrets and Soldier 76’s ult…
I agreed with you until you said 80 HPs and 50% dmg boost, just let it chain with less range than Valk instead, we dont want breakpoints to get obliterated.
I also wish it felt more immediate. I think the idea of Resurrect is fine but I’d rather see the devs make abilities they are excited about and allow to be fun/impactful rather than things they need to “keep in check”.
If they wanted to remove it… then my dream patch:
- E - Copy Paladin/Furia’s beam attack. Mercy uses her staff to fire a beam forwards. Enemies hit with it get knocked upwards and slowly float down.
- Q - Same Valkyrie as live, but now Mercy can resurrect herself when she casts it
- Alternative E - Use the beta “orb” they tested on Moira. Pacify + new visuals to theme it around Mercy.
IMO rez is iconic to Mercy and I would not want it to be removed or replaced
The whole Mercy experience is just mentally destructive right now. Did the devs give up on Mercy? They knew Moira lacked utility and Zen lacked ways to protect himself, they knew Ana’s kit was inherently op, so why are they not doing anything with Mercy? Mercy sucks so hard in the current game, because she does almost no damage or else she can’t take care of anyone when she does, she needs to be fleeing from flankers all the time but then she won’t be able to be in places that need her before engagement, and damage boosting is good but any other support can do more damage than what you have boosted AND do more healing in between the required dpsing for supports. But there are still lots of people playing her only because they like and want to play Mercy. Do those groups of players not matter? I agree that rez is iconic but I am also more than willing to just replace it with a team buff or some sort of ability just to make Mercy playable. If rez is useless in almost every situation, there is nothing left for it to be “iconic”.
They should make Valkyrie an E abilitiy with some sort of self utility and (instant) rez a rechargable ultimate
First lemme really suggest some better ponctuation/paragraphing here, its so darn painful to read.
The reason that they havent reworked Mercy as hard,i believe, is because she is far too popular even in her weak form, so they are expectedly lost on how to appease her players with a good change.
I think instead of instant rez, they should just let her ress while healing/dmg boosting freely, with less movement penalty, they have done something similiar with Orisa, allowing her to reload and place her barrier at the same time, i cant see why they cant let Mercy ress with her weapon out.

If Rez is going to stay in the game, I would make it a support passive and give the self heal to everyone.

The issue there is that there’s a big difference between the value of dealing damage and healing allies. While conceptually sound it’d probably be providing Mercy too much benefit, rezzing and healing/damage boosting, which leads onto another flaw with the idea - Mercy has two firing modes, unlike Orisa, with no penalty on switching between the two.
Yes, however I think the movement penalty actually allows her to get the rez through and not cancel it if she goes too far
Or If they remove it or decrease it, once you start the rez, even if you are “out of range”, it won’t get cancelled
You dont understand i think,the Mercy player would get such value way more consistently if she had instant Rez instead, having her have to cast the Rez still while being able to heal/dmg boost at the same time is a compromise, opening up Counterplay if she tries and res people out in the open still.
Sure but its just a penalty nonetheless, its up to the Mercy player to not go out of range if they have the freedom, it just makes her harder to hit while rezing.
