It’ll exist. But at the same time people co plain that mercy hides and gets rez. So on the bright side she won’t need to hid as much so it may create more chances to kill her to.
it does remove one of it’s core weaknesses, the fact that Mercy is a squishy. There are 3 ways of stopping a res: Stunning Mercy, CCing her away from the target and killing her.
If this overhealth is given to Mercy after she resses, this would make a lot more sense. No weaknesses removed, she can still survive afterwards. But during the cast, just makes her very much unkillable without team focus fire. It removes one of the core ways to deal with it, if not the most effective, since very few heroes have stun and CCing her away rarely works because of map obstacles.
I’m all for Rez being more useful and for Mercy in general being a stronger hero (and for her to be given more agency over the match), but not like that.
I can even think of an exemple: give her a perk that makes Rez instant during her ult. That way the weaknesses are mitigated by the fact that you had to use a resource to get it (ultimate), and she is able to make very clutch plays with her ult that goes beyond damage boosting soujorn and ashe at the same time.
To these people, even rezzing behind their back in full view counts as a hidden rez.
They claim she doesn’t maintain los because they can’t see her, despite her maintaining a full los to the soul.
In most of my games i don’t even need to try hiding most of the time. Unless there’s a diamond or high plat in the enemy team.
This doesn’t make it ok, and saying just save a cc is completely just a non argument.
Completely not a good thing for one of the most obnoxious abilities in the game when it is used successfully
For good reason considering it is the highest value most fundamentally op ability in the game.
The fact you think hero Identity is a valid reason to have something like this in the game says everything, I’m sure you also like widow having a 1 shot hitscan sniper from across the map with no cooldown as a primary fire
Damn, i get more reasons to ban Mercy everyday.
Was initially gonna do it for free, but i guess Blizz wants to help me rally my fellow metal rank players around that ban and make it a certainty.
I’m not complaining, thanks actually \o/
Its kind of similar. BRB from what I recall is a 50m radius and requires no risk to rocket to use. Which means if someone dies and Rocket doesnt’ see it, they just come back. Since the beacon is in the rear, you can’t even stop the person being revived if they are right in front of your face. They just come back since they teleport and even out of LoS.
Mercy’s is in many ways easier to stop because you KNOW where the person died and there is only a 10sec window for the revive to happen. The closer to you the death happened, the riskier it is for the resurrect to happen. Mercy MUST do nothing else while channeling which often allows others to die. While rocket gets to revive someone and keep doing dmg/healing/living.
Which means brawly kills are harder to reverse than sniper kill. Honestly, not much can reactively stop sniper kills, so it makes rez the ONLY reactive ability in the entire game to that type of damage source since its often at range.
Mercy with 225hp and all headshots is only a 112.5hp kill while the BRB is 150hp kill. They are pretty comparable. The BRB has some extra effects, but longer cooldown.
I’ve honestly never given two shirts about Mercy Rez normally. It has so many down sides that in upper tiers you often see like 2 rez/10min avgs I recall while in lower tiers people just stuck more so rez gets to go off more often.
Just one DPS shooting at her will need 0.6s more to kill her compared to before… And if he’s smart and aim at the head 0.3s more/That should’nt be too difficult since she doesn’t move when she rez.Wow,what a game breaking change…
Fortunatly,2 players can shoot at her at the same time and they even can aim at her head too…So 0.15s more than before to secure the kill,we are saved!
I think that it is a clever change. It will allow her not to be one shoted while rezing against some comp and be more viable.
I think everyone is missing some important details here about the perk that gets removed.
This new perk replaces what is arguably her best perk, Angelic Recovery, where she heals herself for 15hps when merely attached to a full health target. So even if she’s damage boosting someone and being shot at and burning from Ashe dynamite and flying around, she still gets that continuous heal. It has saved me countless times from dots, chip damage, and Sombra flanks.
Without that perk, hard pocketing will be more dangerous, and flanking her will be easier. As long as you shoot only Mercy, she cannot heal herself. She now goes back to only getting self heals when healing an injured teammate (24 hps self healing).
As for the new perk, it isn’t clear whether she gets 100 overhealth when she starts casting rez, or when she finishes it. Either one has its pros and cons.
Still, this new perk would be impactful maybe once or twice a match, unlike Angelic Recovery which works dozens of times every match. For my part, half of the time my rez is interrupted, it’s due to stuns or boops or something other than being killed. This perk is also very situational, as some players are not comfortable rezzing, or sometimes the rez was going to get done anyway because no one was around to shoot her. The biggest impact will be rezzing in open field during team fights, particularly on a tank.
IMO this is a shift from ranged pocketing playstyle to open field scrambling, where there are injured and dead teammates to interact with. I think dps enemies would like the opportunity to shoot at her more.
Similar to needing to save a CC when a Sombra preys on your back line while invisible and has extra damage because of virus. Especially when her new perk comes into play.
Rez may be obnoxious to people because it evens out the fight all over again, but the good news is that you can have it on your team also and we all know we love it when we’re the ones receiving it especially in a close fight. I’d argue there’s even more obnoxious abilities than a rarely used ability for Mercy.
I’d argue that suzu is up there actually. A skill that can deny many ultimates and cleanse effects. So is life grip. You get someone low or one shot just for them to get pulled by LW. Rez is easily countered and is rarely used especially in high ranks. We get used to having an ability we can’t even use because of how useless it is when the enemy is camping the soul or your teammate dies out of position. (Which is why being able to get a risky Rez off even more now will help save some team fights especially when it comes down to last minute fights)
I like having Rez to bring back my teammate who’s walking in a straight line and not using cover when they need to the most against that 1 shot hitscan sniper. Especially if nobody knows how to dive and put pressure on her. We can go all day and complain about how nobody kills the Mercy who is using Rez but we’ll fall asleep at our keyboards and ignore the Widow across the map or the Sombra or Tracer in the back line farming our teammates. There’s an answer for every obnoxious ability or character, really. Teamwork and well-thought out plays is a good one.
this solves nothing. Soujorn, for instance, doesn’t stop being broken and unfun to play against because you can have one in your team. This is not good news, this is enforcing a meta, and this makes the game very bland and samey.
It is a valid reason. Rez has been here since day one. I think her being able to swoop in and bring even just a single life back is huge to her identity because it’s an ability she’s always had. It plays a big part in how she’s written as a character.
Which is why we are getting hero bans so if people want to ban Mercy because of Rez then that’s their choice.
Yeah but that’s not fair on the Mercy mains, is it?
The only thing a Rez being almost granted in the scenario we live today will give Mercy is being more of a pocket. Playing against and with pockets is not fun for anyone besides the one being pocketed. Mercy will be banned along with some DPS she pockets all the time and will have to live on QP.
I want Mercy to be viable and to have more agency. Her becoming a Rez machine for Soujorn, Widow and Ashe will just make QP even more miserable.
You are right. It’s really not fair to any character, really. Even if Mercy doesn’t get banned, she can still be hard to play into certain team comps and not being as viable which leads to her needing to switch but, she’ll finally be able to use one of her abilities more that is rarely even used when she is being played. I want her to be viable and playable as the next person. Just because she’ll get a buff to Rez doesn’t make her a Rez/pocket machine for just her DPS. Being able to use Rez more is going to be very helpful for your tank and second support as well especially in the most chaotic of team fights.
Also, that’s just assuming every Mercy player just stands still and holds damage boost on one dps player on their team. While that is what a lot of Mercy players often do, you get more value by also damage boosting other players and their abilities even when it’s a tank or a support. While there are ideal damage boost targets, there’s a lot Mercy can assist with that make her more than just a dps keychain, lol. Sadly, a lot of mains are going to be living in QP. A lot of people wanted hero bans so we’re all going to experience our mains getting taken from us at some point. I was never a fan of the bans before, but I adjusted. A lot of people also only play her in QP as she is now.
It’s definitely a pretty decent buff. I don’t know if it’s as much of a gamechanger as some alarmists seem to think, but compared to her other first tier perks it’s a no-brainer.
It might help Mercy get a one or two extra rezzes off per match, which is a great step up from the, what… five rezzes she gets currently? But I think most of the rezzes that are currently suicidal will still be suicidal.
this’ll just make people hate mercy and mercy players even more, and no one was asking for any buffs to rez, idk why they’re adding this…
Yeah I’m gonna save every cd for the mercy. Get ready to get hacked out of every rez you ever try in my games.
The rumers is, mercy will have a perk that allows her to heal at150hps on targets below 50% hp, at the cost only 50hps on targets above 50% hp. Idk if thats gonna happen tho, 150hps is very op, since its faster than Ana’s burst healing.
Good. Now I can spin-rez more frequently on mercy in the open and get away with it
-2 Brother,
I play with oxygen thieves in QP, you go for a brazen rez out here and they’ll make it look like a cartel execution video.
What MMR are you playing in where Mercy is passing Go and collecting her $200 on e-z peasy resurrections?
