Revert Sombra LoS nerf

Welcome to Roadhog’s world.

So you want Sombra to be able hack Reaper, Mei, Zenyatta and Moira if they use their invulnerability abilities and have Sombra hack Zarya, Reinhardt, Orisa and Brigitte if they use their shield just so Sombra’s hack can become more reliable?

I’m sorry, but I don’t think they want that.
They even mention this in the notes of the patch notes.

I’m certain they have improved the LoS on her hack, but it is nowhere as consistent as her previous hack.

I think that they need to remove the 2s. cooldown on a failed hack allowing Sombra to hack right away if her hack was interrupted for now. I know this isn’t a solution, but it will somewhat make it easier for Sombra to hack players.

But how can they make her hack more consistent without adding the leniency?

Well, I think they should add another LoS check on it. One the left of her and one on the right on her. As long if both LoS aren’t interrupted then the hack shouldn’t be interrupted. Or they should make poles and such no longer objects that can break the LoS of all abilities in the game. I see no other ways to fix this without adding the leniency back.

It was really unfun being hacked behind walls and stuff. They should never revert the LoS check. When you’re hacked you’re basically dead.

Just learn to play with it, git gud, that’s what people told me when Roadhog got gutted.

It…isn’t working though. It’s bugged and sometimes hacks people instantly, just randomly, so it’s not just for sombra players. You should try playing her. She’s hilariously bugged.

Also if getting hacked is a free kill, than getting emp’d must be a guaranteed triple kill.

can you stop trying to hijack this thread. go look at hogs pick and winrates then look at sombras and quit whining

Since Brigittes release his pick and winrate dropped, Sombra and Roadhog are both trash right now because of their inconsistency.

As it is it’s breaking with this

The player started her hack on Pharah, but hack broke and switched to Orisa even tho Pharah never actually went behind the shield. There is no bug in this video, that’s how it works right now. Pharahs ‘heart’ went behind the shield for a couple of frames and that’s enough to break the hack.

Best i can tell is that LoS is checked continuously and it has to return “yes” each time, one “no” and the whole thing cancels whether there’s something actually blocking the LoS or just some anomaly. The grace period allowed for a few "no"s which essentially allows for some anomalies to pass through, it still breaks, but those LoS check errors would have to pile up a lot more to make air look like a solid wall.

Note that even before the nerf, Sombras win rate barely went up and her pick rate was already going down. Whatever advantage you may claim it had, isn’t reflected on the data.

There’s no indication that it did, all they did is make it stricter and supposedly used the workaround they tried for d.va. But as you can see in the video, it doesn’t work as that example is the equivalent of going behind a signpost. Whatever they meant for “Multiple LOS Checks” doesn’t actually work. When they said that, i was hoping they were going to atleast check limbs, but obviously, it doesn’t.

The LoS bug has been present in other heroes, it was fundamentally never fixed on them either, they just do workarounds. For D.va, they added those extra points on the models which apparently worked for her, for roadhog, they spent weeks trying out different ways of targeting for hook (and it’s apparently still bugged), for Genji, they had to make his deflect hitbox oversized, etc. For Sombra, it was the grace period.

dont pretend you didn’t see that coming from the beginning when they dumbed down the potential builds from d2. Blizz lost sight of making a deep original experience and went for the cash grab so it was only a matter of time before it went the way of cod.

We can at least be glad that Overwatch is creative and the most popular of its kind and hope that this will be enough to get Blizz to support this game for longer than diablo 3

(who are we kidding in 3 years overwatch 2 will come out)

Even though they stated that they had installed several line of sights check to make sure the ahck would not be canceld by things like lanterns or going a fraction behind a shield, we can now say they were lying. Hack has never been more inconsistent and the number of bugged LoS-fails or other hack bugs is huge. They said they would keep a close eye on Sombra to make sure she lands in a good place. I guess this is a good place as no word from the development has come for weeks now.

The only thing we want is a word from the devs so we know how they feel about her.

Hack is one of the only skill CCs so as much as I’d like to see it be a priority in the game, the way it broke the game through latency and that 0.1sec mechanic with Zarya bubbles and Tracer recalls being effected was total BS. I’d rather have a buggy mechanic in the game than a broken one.

The two second cooldown basically means shooting her is Hacking her, so no, it isn’t justified to put CC on everyone elses’ primary fire just for her.

The point of what both of us were saying was not to start a fight as to who’s LoS check is worse, but if anything relate and say that hog players understand this kind of problem that blizzard keeps making, inconsistency, and give further evidence that it needs to be addressed. Hog had a number of LoS checks added to hook even after the release of 2.0 and it seems Sombra is going the same way now. While I agree LoS check are needed in both characters blizzard has gone too far with them to the point of creating a huge number of bugs and inconsistencies in the abilities that they most likely don’t even know exist. Obviously what I said originally was a joke but since you and others seem to jump to the conclusion that it was said out of hate or the assumption that you’re just whining I feel like I need to actually explain a bit more, my apologies.

I got bad news for you friend. Hack is buggy AND broken now. Sometimes, hack will go through shields or break when an enemy jumps, it can activate before you complete half the 0.65 second channel or take 2 seconds to channel. Hack is now a gamble where you either win out, get screwed, or see it act normally.

Here is my take on how to fix hack. Basically dump the whole lock on mechanic they are using now and make it a hit scan.

Since we know hit scan has no issue hitting things behind lamp posts or breaks, there will be no more LoS bugs to tackle with anymore.
