Revert Echo voicelines

Why are you forcing the singaporian accent ?
Before now they were unique voicelines that easily triggered Echo’s opponent but now they just sound so high pitched for no reason and it’s like the kind of garbage you would hear during setup and never again during the actual game.

They did this to :
Alamak
Can or not
Jialat (rip)
So awesome (so shiok)
Double confirmed (edit)

Weren’t there threads complaining that Echo didn’t sound Singaporean enough?

And what’s wrong with her sounding more Singaporean?

I understand why they wanted it.
But all they couldve done was have a native Malaysian speaker and teach the pronunciation to Jeannie Bolet (Echos VA) without ruining the emotion and emphasis

It doesnt sound like Echo, and was supposed to be a hero who thrives on learning something new and adapting.

So shook sound so monotone
And having 2 VAs isnt a great idea

Add double confirmed to that list, completely ruined

Now she sounds like she doesn’t even care that it was confirmed once, let alone twice. :stuck_out_tongue:

I actually like them. I do believe Echo needs a Singaporean actor. The current VA is not from Singapore so it would make sense. I argued about this topic a month ago because it just didn’t make sense. If Echo’s from Singapore, shouldn’t the actor know what she’s saying in her Singlish lines?

I really miss “so awesome” sounding like “SO SHOOK!”

The change really baffled me. I’m all for Echo speaking more authentic Singlish, but I’d rather have broken Singlish done well than proper Singlish done badly… or by a totally different VA.

Plus I like Echo’s current VA. I don’t think she needs a “real Singaporean” to do her lines. I mean, it’s called acting for a reason.

Echo isn’t from Singapore. She was probably made in the Overwatch HQ, in Switzerland. Dr. Mina Liao, her creator, was from Singapore.

In my opinion, they should just hire a Singaporean actor. I also don’t agree with two voice actors.

Why does she have Singlish lines then? I understand she was in the HQ of Switzerland. But, she is an adaptive robot. She learned and adapted to Mina Liao’s voice and language. Therefore, she is Singaporean. That’s why she even has Singlish lines.

There’s even a link that says Echo is Singaporean. https://www.google.com/amp/s/sea.mashable.com/entertainment/9867/overwatchs-new-hero-is-singaporean-but-doesnt-really-sound-like-one%3famp=1

From Echo’s bio page:

Real Name: Echo, Age: Classified
Occupation: Multirole Adaptive Robot
Base of Operations: Switzerland (formerly)
Affiliation: Overwatch

Some random news site saying she’s Singaporean doesn’t make it official.

She’s mimicking Liao sure, but that mimicry doesn’t have to be perfect.

That also doesn’t provide any information on Echo. I already know her bio and like I said, I’m fully aware she was in the headquarters of Switzerland. But, Echo is Singaporean. I understand she mimics different personalities but if she isn’t Singaporean, why should she have Singlish lines? Not only that, why should those lines be replaced by someone who actually speaks the language. Echo is definitely from Singapore. Any hero has been found from a certain base, doesn’t mean they were from there.

I miss spamming Can or Not…now it just sounds weird

Your complaining about VOICE LINES, are u actually complaining about something so irrelevant to the games health that it literally can be changed into any language you want it. this has to be troll

Concerns do not exist in a vacuum and it is possible to have more than one issue with the game simultaneously.

I am still upset about this. The emotion in her original voice lines was so expressive and fun. I want that back.
