Why can’t people ever have exclusive items that represent their time spent playing?
Now I didn’t buy the skins originally (I loved the Sombra one!) but just thought Blizzard did not deserve the money.
But now they are back? So players never get to have anything exclusive, because you guys need money.
The whole cool part about buying/dropping a skin from 4 years ago or whenever is that it doesn’t come back. Now I know some people might call this ‘gate keeping’ but sometimes having limited skins is actually really nice.
The cool thing about picking up a skin for a game is that if you play that game for a while you don’t see people wearing it all the time……because they don’t bring it back. It shows a player is a long time player and supported a collab or a skin in the first place.
If I was an original buyer it would do my head in to see these skins back. Stop re-releasing skins, it cheapens the skin and annoys people who bothered to spend out in the first place.
Get out of here. All skins should be available to get/purchase at all times. Period.
In reality, looking at a skin that you want, but cant get because its not in the shop anymore/yet, sucks. But there is something worse, and that is looking at a skin that you can never get because its never coming back.
I think that people having exclusive skins is a very cool part of a game. If you bought a day 1 skin for a game to support it……then 5 years later they release it again….those players aren’t day 1 players.
It’s like everyone in CS with the best knife skin….it just becomes a generic skin that lots of people have.
Just creates an even bigger reason to not buy skins in Overwatch because they always coming back.
because they are not exclusive? Its not like a Pagani or Koenigsegg where only a handfull have/will be build. Skins are digital items that can be endlessly duplicated. They should never be exclusive. Making them limited to a certain time of the year is already bad enought.
The only case where Skins can be exclusive is, if they are part of Special Editions (like the Widow Noire skin) or part of something like the Blizzcon tickets, but even that is questionable.
coz its not fair for the new players. Your time spent on OW has got nothing to do with a new player wanting an older awesome skin. You are probably not even in the same rank as the new guy. You don’t pick up a skin to show your age… i mean, how long you have been playing OW.
As a new player, i never had a chance to buy one of the older skins… does not mean i should never? if yes, then, that’s an unjust thought!
No I don’t think it is questionable. I have a Blizzcon Bastion skin because I bought a ticket for Blizzcon……I don’t think releasing it for everyone to have is a nice message to send to people who actually support events.
I have a Noir skin because I bought the collectors edition of Overwatch with the Soldier 76 statue……I don’t want the Noir skin rereleased for people who didn’t buy the game originally.
Digital items can be duplicated millions of times…but it makes them way less special. Also the other guy saying it makes you look ‘petty’ no, it makes a company look desperate to release exclusive items to generate money.
ummm I actually bought the skins because I thought they looked nice. If more people can buy them that doesn’t make them look worse so I really don’t care. Like get over the nobody else can play with my toys mentality bro
Not a bad take and I would agree with you. Seeing certain mounts and transmogs in WoW are cool because you can tell what that person has done whether it was insane amounts of farming, accomplishments or just plain luck sometimes. Gives the skins a certain allure when you see them. That itself can spark people to play more to obtain said skin.
Having the ability to buy every skin is no different then pay to win. Nothing spectacular about it.
Caring about skin exclusivity is just pathetic, the ONLY exception being earnable skins through some kind of hero progression or lifetime challenge that shows your dedication to the game. (Even those would be available to anyone who wants to work for them)
It’s one thing if you bought a skin and then get snippy “why didn’t you bring other events back?”
But you’re over here looking like you have to resist that urge to buy the skin again. And it’s Blizzard’s fault™ for not keeping it exclusive lol
dude keep crying lmao this is the funniest post I’ve seen today. nothing deserves to be fomo, you didn’t earn anything, you spent money on a game skin woo hoo
I’m saying that I won’t be giving this company anymore money for a f2p game which is out of touch with its playerbase.
I thought the Sombra skin looked cool….because they put recolours in battlepasses and spend zero time actually playtesting their game modes.
Skins for this game aren’t special, they have proven that. Everyone is all equal, there aren’t any earnable skins in the game because Blizzard want money. The way they make money is bringing back popular skins.
The fact this company advertised weapon inspects 2 years ago but now they cost ‘mythic prisms’ really shows how far Blizzard have gone down the wrong path.
I disagree. I hate FOMO marketing and exclusive anything in games. If the skins are going to cost $20 - $50 then they can do at least one consumer-friendly thing and not make them all exclusive.
