Hiding this information serves no purpose. I can partially understand hidden profiles, which is silly because it’s a game, not a social network, but hiding who’s in stacks is just plain stupid.
I want to see who I’m playing against.
I want to know that I lost because enemy had an advantage in communication or for another reason.
I want to know what to be prepared for.
Not showing who is in a stack is blatant attempt to hide the problems of solo queue and matchmaking in general.
If you’re trying to say its being hidden to minimize toxicity, you’re mistaken.
Stacks are the main cause of toxicity, people feel overly confident when playing with friends, and they exploit this for bad purposes. Moreover, they’re the source of massive false reports.
Facing stacks made many solo players rage quit, so Blizz took that screen info away. The stack info could return if Blizz started tracking player disconnect stats and removed hidden profiles, thereby triggering leavers to leave other leavers.
Essentially, they had to nerf solo queue to give stacks a better chance of winning. This also has to do with queue times.
At least with that information, I can understand why I lost and just move on, but the concealment just irritates me.
So enemy already has an advantage before a match starts, but you want to hide it from me?
Already answered – Blizz does not want to encourage leaving. Had leavers not abused the stack info from the start, the feature would likely still be here now. However, it could be displayed after the match is completed so that the group info does not trigger leavers first.
I do agree that showing the info after the match would still give players what they want without triggering them prior to match start. That would be a decent compromise.
And when they used to show it, it was only ever detrimental and had no benefit
You already can. Literally look at who you are playing against.
Your team has the same option and opportunity to communicate. If you and your team choose not to or cant communicate effectively then thats only on you guys.
You should be prepared for the game? Knowing someone is in a stack doesn’t give you or anyone an advantage. Not knowing someone is stacked does not give you a disadvantage.
Not showing stacks is preventing people from making blatant attempts to shift the blame on something as simple and meaningless as wining or losing a video game.
Oh no they’re playing with their friends?! How are they not in prison for something so heinous! And no lol they don’t add to massive false reports.
Even if you’re playing against a 5 stack and each one decides to report you in that game then it still only counts as one report. So how is getting one report from a group worse than getting one report from a solo queue?
Because you can’t fix or do anything about the fact that your enemy have undeniable communication advantage. Understanding this information will help you distinguish between what you can influence and what you can’t. This is clearly not something that fixing will help me become a better player. I can’t influence it, so it’s not my fault.
Just like you build your gameplay when you see that enemy has poor communication and poor teamwork, they don’t regroup, etc.
As an example, this is to play more carefully
p.s Additionally, I can note that this will help avoid false mass reports. Knowing that your opponent has a stack makes you less likely to say anything in chat, including if you suspect a player of cheating. You can’t share your observation in chat, because the stack will definitely report you, and may even start insulting you, which will affect your emotional state.
At least in QP, when people play with their friends, they’re in many cases under the influence of something and they’re all just laughing and having fun. Stacks aren’t thinking about solo players when they group up aside from “playing by myself is boring, I hope some of my friends are on and will group with me!”
I queue with one other friend regularly, and we most definitely run into stacks. We played the same five players two matches in a row.
Either the MM is dumb enough to put us against the same five players that just beat us (which is totally possible), or they were a five stack against a two stack twice in a row.
If you’re keeping track, we lost twice. This game is so incredibly stupid sometimes.
If no one but me join comms, it’s not my problem. I can’t fix it. So why should I suffer because of it? Whereas stacks almost always have communication advantage.
You do understand that a level of trust between friends is initially much higher than between random people?
I don’t mean to be rude, but this is a very silly comparison. And I explained why above.
If my team doesn’t have a communication advantage, it doesn’t make me a bad player. This doesn’t make players in enemy stack better than me. This just goes to show how stacks have advantage.
An advantage is a convention, it does not make you a bad or a good player, but it affects the gameplay and often the outcome of a match.
A higher level of trust, knowing who your ally is and what to expect from them, what plays you can do with them, a less judgmental and more tolerant attitude.
There’s also the possibility of toxic targeting specific players. I’ve been in situations like this myself, where an enemy stack chased me across an entire map. Random people never do that.
I disagree. It’s too situational. If your opponent has poor positioning, you need to play aggressively.
It very much is a your team problem. You are given the same opportunity the other team has. You’re just mad they used it more effectively or better.
You understand it has nothing to do with “trusting” a random person? It’s literally a choice to use it or not use it. They used it better. Thats it.
Yea I don’t mean to be rude, but the explanation above doesn’t explain it away at all.
Never said it made you bad…it literally means they used something more effectively than your team did.
You’re right, except when you say stacks have an advantage in coms. Your team gets the same exact opportunity to use voice and text chat that they have. The ONLY difference is how you and your team use it. If you can’t use it better than they can, then that is on your team, not the stack, and not the game.
And either way, being able to see if people are in a stack still doesn’t show any advantage.
lol thats also not toxic thats giving you a free W I’d love to give my team a free 4v0 on the objective while I kite the whole enemy team to nowhere. And yea ransoms do do that. I’ve been part of the groups of randoms doing the chasing
