There’s an issue with some support player completely negleting/ignoring heal, causing people like me to lose (and no, i’m not whining, this is just a fact and the stats speak for themselves, when the enemy team has a Moira with 15k damage and 18k heal and their Kiriko has 8k damage with 24k heal, while my Ana has 14k damage and 5k heal, while i’m at 28k damage it’s OBVIOUSLY not my fault that we lost).
Solution: Remove the abilitiy for supports to deal any damage, especially from Ana, Moira and Kiriko.
And no, this post isn’t troll, i’m dead serious, i’m super tired of trolls/throwers in every second match. And yeds, i know the differen between an actual good support, that’s capable of dealing damage while being usefull and a clown, throwing the game while everyone else is trying their best.
Ana and Kikirko being able to DPS just causes more harm than good, it’s forcing people to be toxic.
Unfortunately, this might need to become a neccessary evil. The amount of DPS players who play Support for shorter queue times, and just DPS all game is annoyingly staggering.
Yes, you are whining. You want heroes/a whole role reworked because bad players don’t play them properly. As a support player, I get soooo many games where my dps and tanks aren’t playing properly, but I’m not asking for all dps and tank heroes to be reworked due to bad players because that would be insane.
Get better at the game and you will get better teammates.
Then remove the role. If the game is going to be 5 DPS because Blizzard is too inept to make tanking and healing fun then the game deserves death, because all we get now is an infuriating failure with Team 4 making some of the most hilariously dog water balance changes Ive ever seen.
S9 is a failure, no amount of undeserved dink sound effects are going to change my mind.
The necessary evil is returning to 6v6 and biting the bullet to figure out queue times, the literal ONLY PROBLEM OF 6v6, because the rest of this game is suffering under 5v5.
I mean, i’m 40+ frags while everyone else is at 20, i’m already playing for 5 people, all i need is just a little heal and not an Ana that is facetanking a Mauga trying to deal some damage on him.
This trend saw a massive uptick thanks to ML7. Hammering in ‘support not healer’.
On paper yes, very true.
In reality, in metal rank reality. People tunnel vision on damage.
The proper play is
Step 1: First ensure team is topped up and in good position. Keep in mind if you can choose between topping your 75% hp teammate up or killing the 30% hp enemy, killing them is usually the wiser choice.
Step 2: Damage/deny enemy.
GM’s and Top 500’s do step 1 in milliseconds. Instantly. So it looks like they’re doing damage first. A quick glance over the battlefield then damage.
Many metal plebians see this and start with damage. Then miss their shots and get tunnel vision until they hit a couple shots. Teammates die.
I see this most with hard scoping Ana’s, whiffing Kiriko’s and to lesser extent Zen. Zen is often okay because you can leave Harmony on a flanker or tank and you’re good to damage for a while, but you do still need to top up someone who’s low.
Saying that. I’m a hyper aggressive Lucio inter so I speak for my fellow metal rank plebians.
Everyone thinks they can carry and want to see their damage numbers go stupid high. I take major issue with the fact that this was a team based game, but now everyone is in it for themselves unless you’re in a 5-stack.
It’s more likely a wish for players to not tunnel vision. Which is an impossible wish. Many metal rank players tunnel vision instead of weaving damage with heals.
Which causes people like OP to want supports to have less damage and focus more on heals.
Nobody here complaining when they have that goat support with 10k+ damage, 25+ elims as well as good healing.
The more I think about this, the more I feel it on a personal level.
I do want to say it’s not just you experiencing all of this, because most of the matches I played before I quit a few weeks ago were disgustingly similar to this. I don’t know if it’s just the influx of new players not being sorted properly or what, but every match I was dropping 30+ kills and my healers would never be doing what they needed to do. I had one match where a Mercy pocketed me, but it’s not like that was really useful when pretty much every other match was a stomp where my healers would have a combined 8k healing.
It just sucks, and I don’t think it’ll ever get better.
It’s just b/c the value of healing becomes way less than damage in S9.
The value of healing was pretty on par with or better than damage before S9 b/c the amount of healing and the easiness(much better accuracy than damage) combined with the defensive abilities of tanks often outheal the incoming damage.
But now Blizz twisted it. dps passive lowered the absolute value of healing. Increased bullet size raised the expected value of damage. Moira even got damage buff(the opportunity cost of her healing becomes even more expensive now) The final value of healing now is simply lower than damage.
Idk it is intentional or not, but the aim of the patch looks like that healing is like a service station before/after combat, and all 5 just dpsing during combat.
Even then, the point being they need to prioritize their healing over doing damage. There’s nothing wrong with them doing damage when everyone is good to go, but when everyone is in the middle of a teamfight and refuse to heal because they want an elim, there it becomes the problem.
If you want elims, pick DPS or Tank, but if you pick support and you have the main source of healing for your team, heal. It’s not rocket science.
