Representation matters!

I know there will be a lot of grumpy people who are just going to say “I don’t care about nationality, sexuality or gender in a game”, but there a huge part of the community who does and actually might like overwatch due to it, so please you guys be reasonable and stop it with the “I don’t care about it” whenever someone suggests a map on their hometown, lore information, etc…

I myself being a male LGBTQ Brazilian player like how I’m being represented by both Lucio and by Tracer and I appreciate Blizzard for the effort. We’re after all in 2018, the representation might not be a big deal if you’re a cis-gender, straight, white american guy, because you’re being represented all the time, but for the minorities it does!

You will never get how satisfying it is to see and indentify with anyone (character, streamer, pro-player, etc) that is equal to you. It shows that we, even being a small minority, can get anywhere we want to, even if it was not able like 20, 10, oh jesus 5, 2, 1 year ago!

It’s still hard to hear the homophobic and sexist jokes ingame*, but here on the forums where people usually are more reasonable and it’s a place to write and read (*: not only play like ingame) it’s awful how people might be insensitive, selfish and narrow-minded.

Stop being so bitter and delegitimizing what other people consider to be important, if you don’t think that’s worth effort why do you have to be verbal about it? It’s not like they’re going to spend 2 months working on this, they’re still making new balances and content.

Moira is trans whenever you pick one of her fancy skins, that is obvious.

I just naturally assumed that all of the heroes were LGBT unless otherwise stated.

Very biased of you to assume otherwise really.

No is not.

That is true. I mean, we all know what lucio is.

I really don’t get when this whole “But i dont feel represented” mentality began.

Back in the OG days games only had 1 character (Except fighting games) that you could use and no one was whining about not being represented by an italian plumber, or a generic space marine etc etc.

Short fat and bald here… the holy trinity.

So underrepresented amongst superheroes… makes me sad.

This sentence bugs me. She’s not “obviously” anything. The very idea that since Moira isn’t “traditionally” beautiful like every other girl that she should be Trans…That idea SUCKS!

Edit: That’s like saying Zarya should be a lesbian because she’s a muscular woman. That IRKS me so damn much.

It’s not that I don’t care, but rather that I don’t understand it.

Why is it important to have a LGBTQ hero in the game. This is just a video game. None of these characters are real. Theyre just fictional characters. Why does it matter if that hero it is a LGBTQ character or not?
Aren’t there like better ways to express your sexuality? Why does it has to be in a game?
(I’m not trying to be mean or anything. It’s just that I really don’t understand the need of having a LGBTQ hero.)

Also, this game is played in countries like Russia where they aren’t that fond of LGBTQ. Blizzard might want to avoid unnecessary problems with those counties with their games. (Just saying)

This thread is going to be civil and very mature, I can already tell.

I’m already annoyed…

We always have lex luthor and mr freeze

Oh, hey! Your gamertag is one of my favorite Pokemon

I generally don’t understand this. I don’t play a game to feel represented based on my sexual tendencies. When did the gender of who we have relationships with become such a public matter.

See how they make us the villain always? Doesn’t help that I’m British too.

Looks like I’m doomed to be the bad guy.

Tanks pal.

Head Honchkrow y’know!? CAUSE I’M DARK AND I’M FLY!

If the primary reason you want to play a character is their nationality/gender/sexual orientation, either you or the character are shallow.
