There is nothing to discuss on this topic, these penalties are not given by AI. After reports, they are reviewed by the authorities, and if an action, a written chat, or a voice chat recording shows that you truly violated the EULA, you will be penalized. This system has always worked this way and will continue to do so. What you are saying can only be considered as an allegation, if you believe you were penalized unfairly, you can contact Blizzard Support and request the justification.
Many people engage in banned behaviors such as tbag, using bad language, insulting, belittling, embarrassing others, etc., in the game, and then when they get penalized, they come to the forum and start a thread asking, āWhy was I banned?ā We cannot accept everything that people say as the truth, after all, liars also come here and play the victim.
Being respectful and playing the game properly is not hard. Iāve been communicating in both voice and text chat in the game for years, and Iāve never been penalized. So, it seems that being respectful is not difficult.
Instead of talking about the reporting system, it would be more sensible to discuss how people can improve their rude, disrespectful, and uncivil behavior. The reporting system should not be relaxed just because people refuse to stop being disrespectful.
I think you claiming it was AI makes the point unclear. Itās not some outside AI making the judgement call. Youāre getting reported by OTHER PEOPLE.
I do think appeals should be handled better⦠but a LOT of people who claim they did nothing are very blatantly breaking TOC.
Iām quite deep into programming and computer science, and although I acknowledge āAIā is not the right term for this report system, I would say itās pointless to argue about the word usage as it takes away from the main point of the post
Just like your explanation of how the system works, right?
The point is the system is āunfairā. If you have no idea or are misstating whatās actually happening you probably shouldnāt complain.
The initial premise is incorrect, so weāre already basing this point on something that isnāt true or correct.
The examples given are of a streamer (Iām guessing, Iāve never heard of them).
Not exactly a typical case or even a fraction of the player bases experience.
Then it goes on to claim that this person is getting banned for one game. This isnāt true either.
So you wanna talk about points⦠how about we have one based on the reality:
The system has problems with some points that can be abused such as the possibility of being actioned when nothing happened. This would be fine however if the appeals system was a LOT better or at least processed through people OR an AI system that knows what cheating/Bad manners are.
CONTRIBUTORY ENOUGH?
This argument isnāt new or interesting and I originally chimed in because people slinging the term AI around makes a weaker position as far as arguing for change.
I know itās not AI because the system is the same as before AI was even mentioned. Itās a threshold system that does not require AI nor make any sort of judgement calls beyond āis it in the same game and by the same personā which is a simple filter.
I didnāt write it and I donāt know the actual code, but calling something that meets simple threshold requirements AI is like calling anything with 4 wheels a car.
I know it isnāt AI because the system hasnāt changed (proven through recent tests by multiple separate unrelated people that are not myself) and the idea that the historically cheap company has spent time and/or money on developing an AI system that does the SAME THING the old threshold system used to do is laughable.
Iām not avoiding your question in any way. Iāve explained how I know itās or isnāt AI in many ways because I know what AI is and you are either being disingenuous or trying to get a gotcha somehow by having me say āI do not have written proof nor direct knowledge from the developers it is not AIā.
Iām sorry I can extrapolate from data and you canāt fathom that.
I think they actually do use AI to do their voice recognition and then match them with a database of slurs to action people immediately. But donāt quote me on that.
I donāt want to end up on a list.
They directly mentioned this yes⦠but Iām reasonably sure this is not whatās being discussed here.
I donāt actually think that system is related to reports, AFAIK it just crawls the recorded voices and flags people which is how it was discussed. BUT IT COULD BE.
Okay, sweetie, you know how I keep asking where you learned that? Saying āI just know itā isnāt really telling me where you got that information, and thatās what I need.
Until you can tell me where you heard or read that, Iām not going to be able to talk about it anymore, okay? Letās try to remember where you found it.
All they have to do is transcribe the voice files; after that no AI is needed to search it for slurs.
You donāt know that either. Also, why do you act like these are the only two solutions? A simple text match for slurs combined with a counter for infringement would work far cheaper than adding some AI algorithm to the system.
