Reporting System Exploit (Please do not shadow ban this)

On the 1% chance someone from Blizzard reads this.

Two nights ago I was in voice chat but had my mic muted all game. I was getting flamed by my 3 stack for playing the hero I wanted to play but that they felt was sub-optimal. I left VC and continued to play. After leaving VC they started typing to me, telling me to “stop being a bi%^” and to come back to VC. We lost the game and I get the same 3 stack in my very next game, this time I was getting flamed before the game even started.

I played that game and one more game before calling it a night. After work the next day, I hopped on and discovered I was MUTED.

This is absolutely unacceptable. I may not engage in comms very often but I at least listen to call outs. Now I cant talk, type or hear what my team is saying. This not only impacts my personal performance but it negatively impacts the outcome of the game for all people on my team.

Stacked players wield a power far too great, reports need to be substantiated and two or three friends in a stack all reporting someone isn’t justice. Blizzard should not just take people’s word for it and suspend players communication privileges. Also, players should always have the ability to hear what the team is saying no matter what.

This is not a new topic but it seems to be an ignored topic. The Defense Matrix team need to be just in their punishments towards people that disrupt the game and stop solely relying on the integrity of the player base because they have none.

I have personally been in stacks where people demand to report someone for one reason or another, none of which were actually reportable. Playing on a silenced account is pure agony and significantly impacts win rate.

I know the feel, i just got a warning because… no idea.
Asked Blizzard if they can tell me what did i do wrong, where, when, how, maybe some logs so i know what to not do. They just linked me the rule of conduct.

Very helpful.

I am now hesitating bewteen muting the chat forever, privating the profile and never talking to anyone in this game or just accept to be randomly punished by some unknow bad mood players.

Only 1 report per match matters. You did not get silenced from being reported at most twice from that group of players.

“The effectiveness of a report is based on each match in which the disruptive player is reported. This means the report’s impact is the same whether just one or up to nine other players make a report. Players are not likely to be actioned if a group of friends collectively report them unless the reported player is being disruptive across multiple matches and getting reported by different players. Asking other players in chat channels to report a specific player doesn’t help and can make a match experience worse for everyone.”

I thought you could still listen even if you were muted? Do you not just need to check your settings?

given how easy it is to just report someone because you were in a bad mood to then seeing them get banned, its just unacceptable to accumulate reports like this

Or the three stack knows a way around that that Blizzard would care not to publish.

They literally said how the reports work. And that reporting as a group doesnt do anything.

And you believe them?

Yea. Why would they lie about how the report system works, instead of just making it the way they said? Especially when it also makes sense to not allow mass reporting to do anything.

Because it’s easier to leave it busted than fix it.

If I’m Blizzard I’m not telling people that multiple reports in the same game work. That would be the dumbest thing they could do. Then stacks would for sure know those reports are all counting. What I’m getting at is that they have to say that in both cases to keep people from mass reporting.

Or the more likely situation, its programmed for only 1 report per game to count, just like they said.

The OP is clearly lying the first punishment prior to getting muted is a warning. If he/she was as innocent as theu claim he/she would have gotten a warning. So they got a warning first and then they continued said behavior until they got muted. Good. The system works.

What people don’t understand is that everything you ask be done to others can always come back to bite you. For the longest people like the OP and most in this chat cried and whined about “toxic players”. Well, not everyone has the same definition for what a “Toxic player” is. Some people may think you saying “glhf” in game is toxic and get you reported. This is the world you wanted and it’s what you got. I much preferred the days when I just muted the offending player and called it a day, never bothered me or ruined my games. But people wanted to be babied and policed… and here we are. Enjoy.

From my experience with the system thus far this isn’t always the case. I got my punishment first and then when I logged in again I got like 5 warnings all at once. I also got a msg saying thank you for reporting which I found odd because I don’t report people normally( It did make me laugh though).

To be clear my stance on the topic is I’m not gonna take what some random on the internet says seriously. It’s competition and tempers flare and people say things in the moment they otherwise wouldn’t say with a calm head. To sum it up simply we are all human after all.

If that is true and OP description is also true, it takes 2-3 matches in a row to get silenced

It certainly takes more than 2-3 reports to get silenced.

Clearly, you are suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect. I would not be here telling my story on a forum where thousands of players rant about anything and everything, on the 1% chance that Blizzard can see this and it inspires an investigation, only to lie.

Did it ever cross your mind that I am telling the truth and Blizzard is also telling the truth but something behind the scenes isn’t working as designed?

I have been verbally accosted in chat, called the N word and I was the one that got the silenced account. This is not gas-lighting. I am guilty of many things and I have raged worse than Samito on accounts before but in this particular moment, I was innocent.

I don’t need anyone here to believe me, think what you will. I want Blizzard to look at the system and make it fair. Claims should be substantiated with Chat Logs and VOICE recordings. And those who report people unjustly should be punished.

It sucks to say, but any comms outside of ping is just not worth it.
