Reporting players is not working

Since the launch of Overwatch 2 I have reported countless players for racist, homophobic and misogynistic abuse in the match chat but have not received one report of action taken, which I understand I should be getting. Please can this be investigated.

I literally think it’s just there for show these days.

Same for me. The only time I received report feedback - bot account reports

Reports for inappropriate communication don’t do anything anymore. They disabled it, basically.

I think over in Sourcemod when we use to host TF2 servers, there was a script that was created by some community folks. It worked very well and it allowed for a person to run the script on their server and it would censor a person, warn them and if they did it too many times the server would go ahead and eject them from the match to conserve processing resources.

If I remember right, a person also could upload their own libraries. Eitherway it worked very well!

I’ve noticed this too.
Either they just disabled the report windows entirely for whatever reason (that eludes me), or communication is now entirely handled by an AI filter, with no human mods to manually review the chat/voice.
I wish devs explained to us what is happening exactly.

Not only am I not getting ā€˜action taken, thanks for reporting’ the game is also noticeably at its most toxic. They are doing nothing.

If no one else is reporting them, little to no action will be taken.

I mentioned this in the past: I feel like players are so used to that kind of toxicity that they stopped paying attention to it, thus don’t report that behaviour.

It kind of became the norm that it’s hard to take it seriously. Or that people think ā€œnothing will happen to them, so why bother reportingā€. Y’know what I’m saying?

Thank you for posting the only sensible answer in here. Don’t know why it’s always quicker to assume some weird, unlikely and negative response rather than something sensible, when it’s known that people do indeed get rightfully banned by the system.

A system that relies on people to report trash people will only work if others in that game and other matches continuously report the people as well. If you’re the only one reporting, of course it’s not going to work - unless you yourself want to get instantly banned once a group of people in a match decide they want to report you for fun.

Like come on now.

I’ve noticed a lot fewer ā€œthanks for reportingā€ screens, too. I’d get them fairly regularly back in OW1 but now, not so much. I wouldn’t be surprised if they increased the threshold at OW2 launch or something.

I still get these messages quite regularly.

And to clarify here:

This is pretty much the only report I ever make. I regularly report toxic players.

I have reported several blatant cheaters in the past few months and haven’t gotten a single "Thank you for reportingā€ message. Not even one. And I’m talking about obvious cheaters using cheap programs, locking onto targets through walls.

Screw F2P.

It’s because they won’t do anything about those players. They are so afraid of losing them. So they cater to these racist and these bigots and these out of control edge lord kids because theyre the ones throwing money into this game. They actually did start banning people for acting like that 90% of the games player base would disappear in a week because thats how toxic this community is

I’ve reported at least 20 people since the new season started because they were throwing, not a single one got punished

I haven’t reported in a few weeks, but overall in ow2 I get the thank you for reporting message on probably around half of my reports. Almost always a report for chat, not someone playing a hero and doing poorly.

You are the problem.

For what? Reporting people for being abusive?

Yes, for being an obnoxious human being.
I think people who report ā€œcountlessā€ others are far worse human beings than the occassional racist, sexist or mysoginist person.
Personally i think people who report countless other should be banned from any social activity.
They make society worse, not better.

Your priorities are very backwards to me. I’d rather have people reporting people who are doing those things than give the misognists/racists/homophobes free range to spew their hate.
