Abusive chat? YES, LET’S AUTOMATE THAT!
Griefing, poor teamwork, cheating (actually using aimbot, etc.), etc.? Nah, let’s not do ANYTHING about those players.
Blizzard is such a hypocrite with this “please do report!” crap.
The whole “Thanks for reporting” message is an automated crap of a notification, that doesn’t say WHO has been actioned and FOR WHAT.
“Yay, someone was muted for 3 days, hooray…”
How about actually banning these griefing people for once, huh, Blizzard?
How about actually making the reporting system as it is in every other game developers game, where you KNOW that your reports actually do things?
Your reporting system is a joke Blizzard. A massive joke.

a reporting system needs to be forgiving or else its abused, if someone is consistenly getting reported for being toxic, they keep stacking up worse punishments, if they still remain toxic and thus get reported it will result in more strict punishments
in the end they still bought the game and you can’t just block your public from the bought content when they were having a ‘bad day’ so to say
thats why they need to go through less-more punishment systems in order to justifiably ban people from playing their bought game
report systems can be abused and remember that there is a massive player base, they can not even begin to cover the costs of time effectively checking each report, so they have to automate it, once accounts pop up with enough reports they can look into it without risking wasting time on troll reports
we have to remember that the OW team does not have infinite time, resource and the actual speed to meet with some of it’s playerbase ( which is HUGE ) demands

They’re too busy banning XQC.

Reporting does do something, just takes time and persistence from the playerbase to fix the toxic environment.
Propagating that reporting does nothing only discourages players to do nothing. Only reason that I could come up with that someone wants to propagate that reporting does nothing is if that person doesn’t want to be reported for their behavior. So, are you part of the problem or part of the solution?

theres nothing to lose by reporting people who have made the game terrible for you
i always report people who are toxic, even if its not to me, bc if theyre not reported then nothing will ever happen and they can get away with literal death threats and screaming over the mic
And how are you so sure that griefers and throwers aren’t getting punished? Do you stay in touch with them and ask them occasionally if they get banned?
You only see it as ‘not working’ because you still encounter griefers, but let’s be honest, there’s no possible way you can get rid of grifers entirely, it’s an endless battle, you have to play your part

“Toxic” ? People will always be asses towards other players, and OW players need to learn to deal with that. You can’t expect people not to be upset after this flawed matchmaker pairs them with boosted players, that instalock DPS and can’t aim at all, nor do any damage for that matter. And then these players have the nerve to throw the games easier than drinking water.
And Blizzard is doing absolutely nothing about them.
I was silencebanned for calling these bastards out for being what they are: useless pricks that just ruin the game for others, because they themselves can’t be bothered to take Competitive seriously.
But here I am, still seeing these softies playing, despite having been in multiple teams where everyone has reported them for griefing and throwing games. The reports don’t do ANYTHING.
Honestly, I’m really tempted to go on a massive griefing rampage and see just how long will Blizzard actually let this go on.
Last time they did something to a griefer, the guy who was ruining the matches of multiple well known Twitch OW streamer’s, such as TimTheTatman, it took them almost a year.
Heh, might as well do it.
Here I go on a griefing spree Blizzard, let’s see just WHEN will you have had enough of it!
Automated reports = GG WP, lets play paladins.
And i (French Canadian too…)
such bias.
Relax Blizzard, this what we call a qwip you see.
As someone with close ties to lots of derankers I can confirm for you that action is taken frequently and in the past month there have been two large banwaves. Just because you lose to someone doesn’t mean they’re a smurf and just because you see them twice doesn’t mean they aren’t getting punished.
Jesus, you’re so oblivious.
