Report System hypocrisy

Why have I never cursed, used vulgar language or used slurs and been silenced before?

Yet I report people for cursing and using vulgar language and no thank you for reporting.

I literally saw a guy say “I eat”, let’s just say what he said he ate was something vulgar and sexual. No thank you for reporting.

Literally seen guys curse in chat. No thank you for reporting.

Seems it is completely based on number of reports.

Yes, the report system is largely automated. It’s best not to say anything that could be seen as toxic even if that’s not how you intended it. Even “gg” is a bad idea if you won, because that could be seen as gloating. Voice is better if you’re looking for an actual social feature. You’re not a real person until they can hear your voice.

Pretty much. And the devs said only 1 report per match counts, so the whole lobby reporting is still just 1. For people to actually get actioned they need to be getting reported in many games by many different people.

Only 1 report counts per a game. So even if an entire team reports you, only one report will count.

So if someone acts like a complete goblin in one game and behaves for the future, that person will never be actioned.

It takes a certain amount of reports until it shows up in a CS agents inbox and then they decide whether to take action or not (And they mostly will because they consider any curse word above kindergarten bannable)

There’s AI chat filter now, which makes a lot more things people say easily reportable if it gets detected by the AI as toxic. That might be why report rates are going up.

IIRC when I had the filter on, the enemy tank simply saying “team diff” got filtered by the AI and there was an option to report that comment if you wanted to.

Most people probably won’t bother reporting such things but the easiness of the report might tempt some users to report those kinds of comments more.

It exactly works like this.

Did you appeal it with a ticket?

I don’t think this happens at all. I think there’s a certain amount of reports and you immediately get a silence or something. It only goes to an actual person if you appeal it or it’s filtered as an imminent threat or emergency.

i have seen the words ‘clown’ and ‘nuts!’ flagged by the system, it is a very flawed system they have

The reporting system now a days in OW is a joke. You can get away with saying anything you want and being toxic as all hell in chat. Ive reported countless folks with no reprocussions for it.

Maybe one day when the angry mom threatens a Blizz lawsuit over what their 13 year old seen/was told in a match, will Blizz finally act more responsively to reporting..

And you believe them? I don’t. Also even if that was true it’s very common to queue into the same people at certain ranks or game modes which allows certain players to abuse the system and continue to report you. Punishments should never be handed out without validation.

I would rather deal with rule breakers ruining matches for a longer period of time instead of innocent people losing their accounts and begging outsourced support agents to actually look at the evidence.

You’d think this "small indy company"™ would have enough money to spend like 5 or 10 bucks on a mod that polices chat for “buzz words” that can autoflag. i mean using this same stuff on my seam server, it barely bumps the cpu 1%. :stuck_out_tongue:

Reporting anonymous people on a free internet game is a waste of energy. Takes less than 5 mins to make a new account.

People only care when they have stuff to lose. Once your OG account is banned, nothing will stop people from trolling and breaking rules.

Guys I’m banned and it’s soon drives so I’m hon a go and jump off from a cliff
