You never get report conformation messages anymore. Reporting doesnt work.
For the first time last week I got one. Of course I dont think Blizzard really does anything with reports except letting some generous automated system do the work for them based on the number of reports. I dont know how many people I have reported for literally chat conversations they type and you would believe you would get that confirmation in the furture, but instead nothing…because, endorsement system was supposed to curb toxic people but it dont. My chips are on letting something automated and the endorsement system do the work for them
This is not a bug More than 1 person needs to report a player (Blizzard has not disclosed how many are needed) for a confirmation message to appear at a later date. And it only appears if action was taken on that player.
Im pretty positive theyve abandoned the Moderator portion of the report system. I think they left a skeleton crew with the work while the rest works on OW2. Ive reported so many people for harassment, racism, cheating, etc (legit reports not false accusations, im not that kind of person), and get pretty much nothing for reports now. I used to get reports all the time and could time them out to who I reported when I was keep a literal list of names. At the time id say about 80% give or take would have action taken against. Now it like 2% get action taken against.
I received a few confirmations 2 days ago, so it’s still working. I think some people don’t report/slowed down on doing them because they aren’t given an immediate answer about whether anything will happen.
Then they have taken no action on players for anyone I know for months. Despite previously getting almost daily report confirmations.
It is bugged trust me.
Since I have continued to receive confirmations, I am confident the system is still working – and no, I don’t work for Blizzard. I am stringent with my reporting, and only flag major rule breaking. I let little things slide because I rather spend time playing than writing reports. It’s possible that you and people you know are reporting players that other players don’t find that offensive. One report for abusive chat/anything else probably won’t result in someone’s account being suspended or terminated. I also know that a lot of people report players for hacking that are just good at snipers (they say they are reporting in match chat), and another popular false report is “teleporting around” which happens when a player is lagging. The same is true for gameplay sabotage or inactivity – sometimes people just have really bad internet.
The overall point here is: just continue playing and reporting as you feel necessary. Getting that pop-up has no effect on gameplay.
There is/was a lag hack that was going around for a little while. It was one used during the Counter-strike days. Uploads false data packets to create a lag simulation
Sure, you may get the confirmations, I think for most who do a report, is that they get ignored and that a “certain number” is just not cutting the cheese. Most myself included report straight up vulgar language, racist remarks, NSFW name calling (we will just call it that) and nothing is produced. Where Blizzard has claimed they put much attention into OW2, it seems OW1 is getting ignored.
Remember the endorsement system? The saving grace for toxic behavior? My reporting has not cut down that much, and I no I do not report on the “little things” If Blizzard wants to be decent with games again, OW1 needs an adjustment somewhere, including someone actually reading reports and lowering the threshold, they certainly need to make this game enjoyable again. When people are literally getting toxic in Practice Vs AI games, it is time someone makes an adjustment, the endorsement system, not doing a thing…
working here as intended froma xenophobia guy o/

You make some good points, but I still stand by my original position that this is not a bug. If anyone has feedback, feel free to post about it at length in #general-discussion
It isn’t general discussion either really. The system is a bug…that is about as close as it goes right now and Blizzard needs to pay attention. The system and the endorsement system is supposed to curb this and in general and many other forums this is brought up and NOTHING happens. The system that is supposed to help promote good gameplay is flawed, its a bug
The Bug Report forum is for gameplay issues, like turrets shooting through walls, using teleporters to go into an enemy spawn, something like that. It’s monitored by QA and Developers, for game-breaking issues. Posting an opinion about a system, or the results of that system, definitely goes in #general-discussion. I’ve tried to point you in the right direction
Maybe its only bugged on EU servers then. Trust me, reports don’t work anymore.
Call it what you will, it is not an opinion…I am not sure what is difficult here to realize that if something that is part of the game is not working, it is also a developers issue to look into. Whether it works for you or not sorry, not relevant here considering more than one person is reporting it. General discussion does not ring “I am going to report something wrong”
Last night I got a random email that was a Report Notification. I almost never get emails on submitted reports, its always in game notifications. Which means 1 of my emails from nearly 6 or so months ago that had video link evidence was taken into account. its been around 6 months since ive emailed the hacks@blizzard.com address.
