Report on my Placement Matches - Why are people still playing this toxic game?

Game one:
Paris-L: Even match, mostly lost from a lack of ult usage. We lost the first point each time with multiple ults in pocket.

Game two:
Horizon-L: Toxic throwing tanks got openly saying they are throwing because they don’t like me giving instructions

Game three:
Nepal-L: Complete team dysfunction, tanks picking Rein/Orisa, healer screaming at me to get off lucio.

Game four:
London-L: 5-stack on my team that purposefully threw the match. They ignored voice chat, ran into the pit to die on purpose, and stood off the point to not cap.

Game Five:
Blizzard World-W: No one was communicating for the first round, but held near first checkpoint. Mostly the other team had a complete lack of coordinated play.

Game Six:
Liijiang-L: Not much communication from team, tanks we spending most of their team feeding into genji blades. Both teams playing dive very poorly. Asked for group ups and to coordinate our play, no one listened.

Game Seven:
Route 66-L: Tanks not talking in voice at all, every time I asked us to group up they Hog/Rein would split up. Tanks picked Orisa/Rein to hold on last checkpoint. No ability by the team to focus fire a target, everytime a target was called low no one turned to shoot it.

Game Eight:
Junkertown-L: Other team had a smurf widow that was pretty much aimbotting. They never missed a headshot if someone poked. Pretty much made it impossible to win with how undisciplined people are in plat.

Game Nine:
Oasis-L: Running odd hybrid Orisa/Hog tanks with dive Doom/Genji dps. Lost horrifically as our ana was outhealed by our Lucio while their ana was never touched by our dive.

Game Ten:
Numbani-W: Team was quite for the most part but played as a team. Torb on our defense was not in voice and effectively threw the first point by being alone in the corner with their turret out of LOS.

If this game is so toxic, why are you playing it?

Going into this season I couldn’t love OW more. Currently I hate it, and have switched to Apex, OW ran its course for me, Just can’t take the stuff that happens in this game anymore, and I’ll roll the dice with another game. My wait times to get into comp games are about 3 minutes, So hopefully this truly means OW is dying quickly on xbox.

In summary, the lack of mandatory communication, zero discipline, multiple smurfs, and screaming children who don’t like something make this game nearly unplayable.

Good luck.

I was really pleased with where I finished last season, as I’d always wanted to hit plat (about as close as it gets, lol)

I avoided week 1 as notorious for throwers.
Week 2 I was really ill and would gave performed badly.
Nearly end of week 3 and not summoned up the urge to play again.

Reading these forums, which is 90% comp horror tales isn’t enthusing me either…

same for the last 16 seasons. nothing has changed.
why are you surprised?

3 minutes :-P. you serious bro?

Used to be like 30 seconds

Retrospective.

Of the 10 games, I can honestly say only the first game was even remotely enjoyable. Everyone was communicating, we lost from lack of mechanical skill and game sense.

I have hopes that a role-queue or required grouping for comp is coming. But in the current game state I don’t think this game will survive much longer. It’s emotionally taxing and exceptionally unrewarding.

usually i dont really w8 more than one minute :man_shrugging:.

overwatch is probably one of the least toxic games out of every online game ive played

play csgo or league for a day and you will realize what i mean

You obviously don’t play it on console then.

Game’s a toxic cesspool of throwers/smurfs/griefers on Xbox.

It’s not better on PC. People frequently throw Diamond games over the most miniscule stuff

. I had a person this season throw overtime Junkertown 1 minute to 1 minute when the other team basically hadn’t moved the cart. Why you ask? Because I told the team we could win the game, that’s why he threw.

It takes me like 5 minutes on pc im only diamond

Ignore placements, you aren’t going to place more than 100-200 away from where you left off no matter what. Just play them and move on. They’re often one sided so it’s better to just recognize the definite losses and move on.

For casual, good clean fun. Comp is the very best of all casual modes and as a not special, regular game with nothing going on in its ranking system worth pursuing…it’s still fun in the low ranks where you get to play the game that was actually sold.

Everyone should treat this like TF year 9 as far as I’m concerned. You don’t see any TF2 people caring about their ‘rank’ in anything unless they are paid to play the game.

A lot of extrospection in the OP. Game is more fun when you are able to effectively tune out the bullcrap and learn something every match, imo.

don’t ya love those players

the moment that happens rest of team should flag report and avoid and blizzard’s system should pick it up that if they do it another few times
season ban instantly

This is the exact toxicity he’s speaking of
