Obviously blizz’s automated system can’t detect context so I don’t feel bad about reporting cocky winners who say gr or gg after a stomp. It is toxic and the opposite of sportsmanship.
As I float around low GM for most of my games i run into a lot of the same people all the time and they never say gr/gg on the losing side.
I always say GG after a game, regardless of how it went. Even if we won by a landslide, I say it as a way or saying that the enemy still played well and I commend them for that!
Remove something that existed for so long in online gaming, people of overwatch are just overly snowflaky, even if it is stomp why do you assume it was said with malicious intent?
What if I meant said it to acknowledged your efforts and not leaving match and giving up.
Saying GG EZZ NOOBS would fall into the insult category but not GR/GG.
I hardly say it anymore. I use to say it all the time win or lose even if we stomped them or they stomped us. I really meant no disrespect. Honestly. Then I started to notice people getting upset about it, especially here so I don’t want to risk it anymore. I only say it now if it was legitimately a close match.
You do see it a lot actually. I think you might just be falling into the trap of remembering negative experiences more strongly than neutral or positive ones.
Player: “Ban him Blizzard!”
Blizzard Representative: ‘What were they doing? Calling you names? Throwing?”
Player: “ He said GG to me!’
Blizzard Representative: ‘…’
A blizzard rep doesn’t initiate the ban. Our reports do. You can type, “this guy is really nice, please don’t ban him” and it counts the same as when you type, “used every racial slur in the world, told everyone to kill themselves.”
