Replay system issues and some suggestions

So firstly ill point out some of the issues.

  1. The key binds named Decrease speed/zoom out and Increase speed/zoom in does nothing for me.
  2. There is no keybind to bring up the Replay HUD.
  3. Some input functionality works in replay while the pause menu is up.
  4. On a controller input, left bumper and right bumper can increase and decrease playback speed altho its not assign inthe keybinds.
  5. Spectate self does nothing - a few other functions are not working correctly it maybe a new Replay vs old spectator conflicting with some commands?

Suggestion:

  1. Have a dedicated Spectator sub section for controls.
    This way it will be easier for users to setup keybinds and more organised if/when OW team adds more functionality to replays.
  2. Add Keybind for replay HUD.

The details:
The icon in the hero control sub menu can be a simple mystery hero icon.
A reviewed button layout to make the spectator mode feel more natural;
Jump to acend the camera.
Crouch to decend the camera.
Normal WSAD movement.
Scoreboard to Pause/Play.
Ult to toggle overlay.
Hero select to show Replay HUD.
Ability 1 to Spectate next.
Ability 2 to spectate previous.
Melee to Toggle 3P.
Reload to move fast.

hi Blizzard! please look into these issues as there are so many bugs/inactive features with the replay system on console.

i wrote about this in a post in August 2019:

on PS4, there’s nowhere we can bind the “spectate overlay” feature to a custom button. additionally, there are no binding options for the “show controls/timeline” bar, so if you’ve remapped your R3 button to something else, you can’t rebind that bar to another button. navigating the replay system on console is pretty dysfunctional at the moment.

I know this is an old post but I came here looking to solve the first point and I’ve figured out the first two.

  1. In order for the Decrease/Increase/Speed/Zoom bindings to work, you have to also be pressing the key bound for Modify FOV. (I’ve got mine set to RMB + Scroll Up/Down)
  2. There is a keybind for Replay HUD. It’s called Media Controls.
