Repeated Disconnections in Overwatch 2 - Request for Technical Diagnostics (Thailand/3BB ISP)
Dear Blizzard Support Team,
I am writing to report persistent connection issues experienced tonight while playing Overwatch 2, and to request technical information to help resolve this problem.
Issue Summary
- Game: Overwatch 2
- Date/Time: 16/06/2025 23.00 (GMT+7)
- Problem: Multiple disconnections from both Unranked and Competitive matches
- Location: Thailand
- ISP: 3BB (Triple T Broadband)
Additional Context: This appears to be a widespread issue affecting multiple players in Thailand who use 3BB as their internet service provider. Many players in our community are experiencing identical disconnection problems, which suggests this may be a routing or peering issue between 3BBâs network and Blizzardâs servers.
Request for Information To help resolve this issue effectively, could you please provide:
- Server-side logs: Any disconnection logs or error codes from your servers during my play session tonight
- Network diagnostics: Information about potential routing issues between 3BB (Thailand) and your game servers
- Technical details: Specific network paths, server IPs, or ports that might be experiencing issues
- ISP communication: Has Blizzard identified or reported any known issues with 3BBâs network infrastructure?
My Network Details
- ISP: 3BB (Triple T Broadband)
- Location: Bangkok, Thailand
- Connection Type: Fiber
Why This Information Matters: Since this affects multiple Thai players using the same ISP, having technical details from Blizzardâs side will help us
- Determine if the issue originates from 3BBâs network or Blizzardâs infrastructure
- Provide specific technical information to 3BB support if needed
- Help other affected players in our community resolve similar issues
I understand that connection issues can be complex, involving multiple network hops between players and your servers. Any technical diagnostics or logs you can share would be greatly appreciated and will help ensure a better gaming experience for the Thai Overwatch 2 community.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Best regards,

I would suggest the implementation of banning system to be more specific. In example, system should be able differentiate players who leave the match willingly or accidentally, and it could be better if the accident ones are suspended in less severe manner than the one who willingly leave a match. For better or for worse, Iâve been playing this game for 8 years, but the situation now is unplayable (I got disconnected 4 times in 1 competitive game). Please donât let this year be my last year of overwatch.

dear Househii-1145,
I completely agree with your suggestion about having a more specific banning system, and I feel for your 8-year journey with the game. The challenge is that itâs technically very difficult for Blizzard to detect whether a player left intentionally or accidentally
The Detection Problem
- Easy to detect When someone uses the in-game âLeave Matchâ button - this is clearly intentional and should carry full penalties
- Hard to detect When players disconnect through external methods like turning off their PC, unplugging ethernet cables, or cutting their internet connection - from the serverâs perspective, these look identical to genuine connection problems
Possible Solutions
I think a more nuanced system could work based on multiple factors
-
Pattern Recognition Track leaving frequency and timing patterns. Someone who consistently âdisconnectsâ right when their team starts losing probably isnât having genuine connection issues.
-
Player History Integration Consider past behavior like toxicity reports, communication penalties, or gameplay patterns when determining penalty severity.
-
Grace Period System New accounts or players with clean records get lighter penalties for early disconnections, while repeat offenders face escalating consequences.
-
Reconnection Attempts Players with genuine connection issues often try to reconnect immediately. The system could track this behavior.
-
Seasonal Point System Implement a comprehensive âreliability scoreâ that could work like this
- Every player starts each season with 100 reliability points
- Completed matches without leaving = +1 point (capped at 100)
- Intentional leaves (using in-game button) = -10 points
- Disconnections/crashes = -3 points initially, but severity increases based on frequency
- Players below 80 points get warnings and shorter queue timeouts
- Players below 60 points face longer competitive suspensions (hours to days)
- Players below 40 points are restricted to Quick Play only for a period
- Players below 20 points face seasonal competitive bans
- Points reset each season, giving everyone a fresh start
- Players with consistent good behavior (90+ points for multiple seasons) get âgrace periodsâ where occasional disconnections have reduced penalties
Youâre right that the current system is too blunt. Even players with legitimate connection issues (like what weâre experiencing with 3BB in Thailand) should be more cautious about queuing for competitive if they know there are ongoing problems. A smarter system would protect genuinely unlucky players while still deterring intentional leavers
The technology exists to make these distinctions - it just requires Blizzard to implement more sophisticated tracking beyond simple âplayer disconnected = penaltyâ

Finally! Iâm really glad someone brought this up and explained it so clearly too. Iâve been dealing with the same issue, and itâs honestly super frustrating
As someone using 3BB in Thailand, I keep getting disconnected from OW2 servers. Itâs not like I choose to leave the match, but the game still gives me penalties or even bans me like I did something wrong.

Iâve already tried contacting 3BB, but when itâs just a few players reporting the problem, it doesnât go anywhere. Thatâs why we really need Blizzard to step in too. Sometimes it takes action from the game developer to truly get things moving.
You guys have added fun stuff like Stadium Mode (
love it++) and cool events - we really want to enjoy them without getting frustrated or unfairly punished. Fixing this will benefit everyone >> us as players, our teammates who get affected when someone disconnects, and the overall game experience and feedback.
I really hope
Blizzard / Game Dev. sees this and takes it seriously.
Please donât just tell us to reboot our routers - this issue needs proper attention. We just want to play the game and have fun, not get kicked out and punished for things beyond our control.
