I got a Rendering Device Lost error (it’s fairly common especially after feature patches, it tends to go away after fix patches), but unlike the couple dozen previous crashes over the last couple years, this did not end with a graceful shutdown of the application. I have mostly made peace with RDL errors in general, since this is an 8-year old machine and it’s not the only problem my machine has with the game, but I figured you’d want to know about it hanging instead of shutting down.
The crash occurred during a POTG replay which I starred in. I’m honestly not sure I’ve ever gotten a RDL crash during a POTG before. Immediately after the RDL error box was closed, though, I got a flash of a different POTG intro screen, with my name on it but the wrong character; the actual POTG was Brigitte, the fake screen was McCree. The sound didn’t stop, hanging on a set of sounds, and the application went away but didn’t close. When I switched away, the Windows 10 live preview from hovering over the icon in the task bar remained on the McCree POTG screen.
Unusual for me, earlier I had switched to full screen mode on the game with alt-enter; I normally leave it running windowed. Not sure if that’s relevant.
