Rendering Device Lost - Constant Issue

Im so tired of this error. I have lost so much SR and so many games crashed due to this issue. This happens to so many people with a RTX 2080. Can i please get some support on how to fix this.

Steps I have taken:

  • Formatted Windows & Reinstalled
  • Reinstalled Driver multiple multiple times
  • Rolled back driver multiple times
  • Repaired Game
  • Reinstalled Game
  • Beat my face on keyboard

I cant seem to post my dxdiag and MSInfo - says too large.

Hey, so I might have a fix. First thing is if you have overclocked your card overwatch will automatically detect it as a unreliable source due to fluctuation. If that is not the problem make sure the card is getting proper cooling. I also own a 2080 and had this problem for awhile and realized that these are the two main factors contributing to the problem.

If your DxDiag does not fit in one message, post it on Pastebin.com and provide the hash code (the numbers/letters after the .com) in your reply.

The above advice is also good.

The requested DxDiag from Nicole will be helpful to check for any errors that will give us clues to the issue.

I wanted to chime in and check on a few things here! Checking on our end, it looks like these drivers are a bit old that may have been from a rollback or using the Windows update version. Here’s the driver I’m currently seeing on our end, 26.21.14.3203.

How was the drivers/rollbacks reinstalled? If Device manager or applications like Driver Support was used, it may not have updated to the latest version or cleanly installed the drivers. Remove any driver utilities like Driver Support or Driver Easy if they are on the system and let’s use the Display Driver Uninstaller utility tool and downloading the latest from Nvidia should help clean up the drivers.

There was an old RTX issue last year caused by driver profile issues. This should have been resolved with updated drivers since we have seen reports decrease for this issue. It may not be related, as Rendering Device Lost has different causes since it’s tied in with the Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR).
