Remove Zarya's bubble/damage mechanic

I think its time for this to go. It just makes Zar too swingy
Either the whole enemy team is reserved or disciplined enough to never shoot them and she does pathetic damage, or even one person feeds and she’s roaring at full blast all match.
‘just dont shoot the bubble’ is the obvious advice, but no matter how well one player might adhere to it, someone else can fail to do so and everyone feels the consequences
She could really use a rework in general so shes not such a boring hero who really only has one CD, but that at least I would like to see go. Just let the bubbles become purely defensive, balance her around constant damage values, and lets have one less mechanic in this game that punishes players for daring to…shoot enemies

That is actually why focusing her and bursting the bubbles is the more logical approach if you ask me. Instead of relying on people to be disciplined. Play into their nature. Don’t fight it

Then you get half the team focusing bubbles and the other half holding off, so she gets full protection from them while still getting full charge. A QP/comp divide, where maybe more unified teams will have the comms and coop to do on eo rthe other but QPers dont

Are they blind? Do they not see the freaking Rave Party in front of them and Mercy turning into goop?

Poor Mercy… Oh, and it wasn’t me!

No.

Zarya is one of the most well designed characters in gaming history. Her mechanics are fine. A good Zarya knows how to play around disciplined players by utilizing her teammates. A better Zarya holds down W and uses both bubbles on herself while she bombs and tea bags the Kiri- oh no she teleported away :*(

No warning? You just spit that right here, in front of my salad?!

I hope this means you were joking about the first part. I am so unsettled.

Her getting charge from using her bubbles intelligently to block damage and help her teammates is fine imo, but Zarya players use both charges of bubbles on themselves in 99% of situations. I understand why they made her more flexible and gave her a pool for 2 uses of either bubble since she is tanking alone 2.

However, it creates this loop where she has a 6-second window of vulnerability where you can try and punish her. With suzu, grasp, grenade, immortality, rez, and healing in general, this window can be very difficult to make anything happen during. If you can’t kill her in the 6 seconds before her next bubble comes up, enjoy another 4.5 seconds of invulnerability. If a team is coordinated and can pop her bubbles and kill her, basically breaking the loop, it’s not as bad, but if a team can’t successfully kill her, due to the aforementioned support options, then they’ve just allowed Zarya the damage she needs to wipe their team.

They nerfed her bubble up-time in November 2022 for exactly this reason: “For opponents, feedback has indicated this can feel as though Zarya has very limited windows of vulnerability, which feels difficult to deal with when combined with her ramping damage potential.” They buffed her bubble up-time in July back to 5 seconds combined and nerfed it 3 days later in by .25 seconds per bubble, so. Zarya received a ton of other buffs this year anyway. They have to know that Zarya is like one bubble change away from being totally broken.

She has always been like this since OW1 Launch, why remove it now?
