The system has never worked 100% correctly, like from day 1, but people didn’t really complain because it’s fair for the most part, now there is an abundance of whiners, and about everything, from smurfs, to throwers, cheaters, boosted players, people boosting, and so on.
This is where the majority of my friends are/have been over the many years I’ve played this game.
Also, it’s an open forum for people to converse about past/current/future experience, what’s the issue?

Yeah, classic Overwatch. Every time Blizzard touts something as better, it’s almost always worse. This new season was supposed to allow you to play comp with friends but I could play with my 4 stack in the prior season but no more. This has ruined the game for me. No one is boosting: we were all within mid gold to mid plat and just enjoy playing the game; none of us will ever be GM. Take off these idiotic restrictions! Or at least make the restrictions only applicable if you have a GM in your 4 stack (or at least Masters). I don’t even care if I get ANY rank. I just want to play with my friends which I can NO LONGER do now that you’ve made it “more friendly”.
And no, I’m not interested in playing Quick Play.

Similar situation here. Our 4 stack is dead. We played some arcade and qp, but the games are chill/silly and not something we will keep coming back for. Comp is the thing that has kept us playing for 9 seasons. 3 of us just resorted to playing wide open queue tonight because the queue times are better, but we get 12% per win and basically never move in rank and don’t feel rewarded. We won’t keep doing this. For role our 3-piece is only narrow with one role for each of us now and we are within one division of us all being wide. That will be the end of us grinding this game. We buy every battle pass and spend a good amount on skins to support the game and are generally friendly players, so this wide matching thing has really felt bad.

Sure you’re not. Stacks always know whats best. They have the best coms, the best strats, never throw games for luls, never smurf and in all honesty they all derserve sainthood.

Yep, just like solo players can do no wrong. They always are willing to adapt to team play, never feed, are always willing to swap off a character to another that works better with the overall team comp….works both ways.

I can understand the problem. Removing the wide matchmaker unfortunately is not a good solution because its just shifting problems from certain users to others. Bringing back LFG might help so that peeps in ur situation can find an extra player when needed.

You likely win more games than you think because of the groups on your team. If you are a solo that is struggling after playing a substantial number of games and has less that 50% win, you are the common denominator. I know it’s tough to hear (when I am at my max rank I am >50% the common denominator for losses and then I get pushed back down where I am not. See what I mean?)

So by you own logic, was shifting the “problem” to players after 9 seasons a good idea? I really don’t think there is a problem with solo play. It’s really with the individuals. Many players are successful at solo until they max out their rank and reach the top of their skill band. Then they adjust down and repeat. I think folks are missing the fact that they likely just hit their ceiling and have cognitive dissonance.

Competitive modes should have controlled and fair environments, so not alowing big groups to play against solo queues is definitivley the lesser evil here. Both options are a pain for players, but this option is the better choice if you want to keep the semblance of fairness. They need to find a way to have 4 player groups play together, but it needs to be a way that doesnt influence the outcome of games.

I think there is a false premise of “groups of 2+ are the reason a solo struggles,” here. I’ve soloed from season 1 and am very familiar. I struggle when I hit the top of my skill. Simple as. I guess time will prove this when solos players in the new narrow matching start complaining about something else as the reason they lose rather than looking at their own gameplay. Let’s see.

I dont think you get it. I cannot play the game, thats the issue, I dont care if the games I get are unbalanced or so on. I cannot play the game, I dont get into a game because the queues are 1h+. You’re telling me you cant see the issue in 1h+ queues?

The thing is, we are not complaining about win ing or losing.
We are complaining about matches quality when being thrown in stacks which more often than not involves a high skill disparity.
Does it mean I lose more than I should ? Absolutely not.
Does it mean I would get a better rank in a solo queue ?
Absolutely not.
Does it means the games will be more balanced and enjoyable ?
Heck yeah ! Almost every single time there is a high skill disparity in my games, it’s because someone stacked with his friends 2 whole ranks higher or lower.
Is this system perfect ? No. But it is either that, or a solo queue only or an option to opt-out of stacked games. It can’t get back to what it was before. Something had to be done so that solos could enjoy the game.

That’s because once again the devs wanted to treat high ranked players like special People who needs some “privileges”.
The rank restrictions up there are absurd while we, the plebes, could be Just fine playing with other players 2 whole ranks above or below us.
Oh, but you are. W/l is arguably the only quantifiable measure of game quality we have at the moment. Everything else is unfortunately subjective and based on feelings. What better quantifiable measure are you using? It seems to be feelings.

As a solo player Id happily play any role that gives me a fair match, but none of them do. Sorry but peeps in a stack have zero right to complain about anything.

I’m sorry but no I’m not. I’ve won countless of those games and yet I had absolutely no enjoyement playing them.
I actually play the game for the game itself not the shiny icon. Sorry to burst your bubble.
