Remove turrets from OW2

I get the idea of making easier heroes for players who don’t want something too mechanically challening (like moira’s design with l̶o̶c̶k̶o̶n̶ right click and auto sucking orbs), but the game would be a lot better without external things that fight for you (like auto-suck on orb, symm turrets, torb turret). Shooting at turrets is similar to shooting at a shield. It’s awkward, can get you killed, and randomly dying to a turret sucks as well.
This is just my opinion. I don’t think anyone would miss damage-based turrets.
Try utility deployable gadgets instead.
(Symm gadgets could speed boost in a circle where deployed, heal, scan through walls every few seconds with a 1 frame show of how clustered enemies are behind wall, etc.)
They aren’t even good right now, so I’m not sure why people are replying with “get good” and missing the whole point of the post.
If offensive turrets are tedious extrenal sources of damage for opponents and not even that good for defenders, why are they the way they are? OW2 maps will have even more flank routes.

I would miss them. I like turrets and buildable things.

If it would satisfy you they could just remove/reduce the damage from turrets and just make them provide passive utility.

Or just give sym/torb a different buildable ability. Although to be blunt I doubt they will remove their turrets anyway.

I think that Sym’s turrets work as utiltity. The T500 Sym mains I watch mainly use them for zoning or blocking dangerous abilities, and when they are used for damage they’re typically used to bolster damage against a target that Sym is already beaming down instead of randomly getting a pick. The only people I see that ever get shredded by Sym’s turrets are metal-rank players with bad awareness, which isn’t enough of an excuse to have them outright removed.

Utility sounds nice. You could strategicly place things that increase movement speed, like small gadgets, or that show behind walls for a small time. Things that allow a hero to be more optimally played without partially playing for them in any way.

Well to start off with, getting rid of flash and mei freeze, we shouldn’t have cc symm turrets. Maybe they could be projectiles too instead of lock on lazers, so diva could help out. Idk. I’m not spitting out real serious ideas. I just don’t think where the game is going that we need to hold onto non-utility objects that damage for you. If they want to make some heroes easy, then make it built into the way they play, not partially play for them while placed.

I still think they should make Torb turret’s shots projectile. My opinion.

Mei slows and the new hero does it as well, Junkrat’s trap now slows people. Why would they change turrets because they have a slow effect?

Have you seen the speed of 3x turret slow? You’re practically immobilized. They’re trying to make the game more dynamic with one tank (less shields), less dps cc, and so on.

It’s a 20% movement reduction and tanks have CC reduction on top of that. Also, almost everyone has a button to get them out of their range.

By the time you notice you’re getting cc’d by every lazer you are dead unless you’re a tank. It’s not in the spirit of where the game wants to go. OW2 needs bold changes.

… That’s a skill/reaction time problem.

So your reply is basically a “get good”? This is the reason my fps friends hate this game. There is too m̶u̶c̶h̶ ̶m̶o̶b̶a̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ little emphasis on being able to carry. The very audience they’re trying to pander to with OW2 are those players that keep the other games alive where you can pop off and not die to non-dynamic AI turrets.
But I’m just bad at the game. Little discussion to be had. If this game holds onto OW1 concepts that just feel bad to face, tedious to destroy, or die to, then how has the game evolved much?

Bruh Turret and deployables has been part of hero shooter since TF2 (engineer) and is also present in Paladins (Barik, Kinnesa, IO). It’s not that hard to get rid of them.

I didn’t say it was hard to remove them.

stopped reading here… sorry buuuuutt…

I bet however you’re ok with Cassy’s new flashbang grenade.

I’m okay with his new flashbang soley because it sucks

Friendly reminder that this only applys to knockbacks, not slows/stuns/hacks/sleeps/whatever other CC exists.

Symmetra’s turrets do 40 dps a piece and make a “BEEP” noise before they lock on, giving you .5 seconds to react before they even start shooting.

It’d take all three, firing at you all at once, more than 2 full seconds (accounting for the .5s delay) before you’d actually die, and that’s if you don’t back up and shoot them.

Like, you’ll die to most everything else in the game a lot quicker. I don’t think “you don’t have enough time to react” is valid for an object that only does 40 dps, and dies to a quick melee.

They’ve been part of the class-based shooter genre since Quake Team Fortress. They’re a staple of the genre, as much as Rocket Launchers or Sniper Rifles.

I see absolutely no problem with this. Turrets suck.

To be fair, if you are complaining about Moira, you wouldn’t fare well in any other shooter, realistically. It is a limited range, low dps beam, fam. No lock on either. The hitbox is just very large.

It contributes to her being cheesy. Do not get me wrong, but you do not need to be able to solo carry a team if you can’t duel a Moira. Baby steps, bro. Work your way up.

I don’t think removing them is bad but I think making them auto damage is unhealthy.

OW has more auto damage than any other fps I’ve ever played
