Realistically, with how Tanks are in OW, he’s going to be a major balance problem until they do. That, or they’d have to go the main tank route but that would require heavier changes.
Honestly though, it blows my mind how they were working with freaking gravity and all its vast possibilities and yet the best they could come up with was a boring barrier? They have zero creativity when it comes to Tanks and Supports.
He used to be able to cancel KG using his Rock throw. They changed it, and nothing cancels KG now.
It kind of sucked, because not many knew this. Sometimes I would use KG and the enemies would stop shooting at me, giving me a perfect opportunity to cancel KG with rock throw.
SVB hosted a tank conversation and one idea that was thrown out was having to EARN your shield back.
If his shield had a long Regen cool down that essentially only recharged between fights, but kinetic grasp first recharged the barrier prior to providing over-shields, I think that would instantly help where he is at in the meta, and especially how he helps define double-shield.
Double-shield could be shut down by just not feeding his grasp. Beam and cleave/melee are prominent in other comps and would work well against him.
And what woudl that mean for Rein, who’s literally a close range anchor tank.
And let’s not forget that Orisa isn’t an awesome tank at close range either, given that she’s partially balanced to be behind a barrier as much as possible.
Would probably mean he’d still be better than Orisa or Sigma at a close range brawl. Might get a bit more doubleofftank wins. But he’s making up one THIRD of all Tank picks, so he could stand to lose a few percentage.
Here’s what I had in mind for Orisa. I.e. A solid main tank, with better anti-pharah capabilities.
Could probably throw in that Gallop Passive in there is she needs some spice.
Given how easy it is to chew through the damage resistance it is and that it’s Orisa’s OS button, why are we nerfing fortify like that? Everyone seemed to forget during the GOATs Meta how easy it is to kill a Fortified Orisa.
Because I came to the conclusion that DoubleBarrier is always going to be the strongest composition at medium/long range, but it could have a big weakness at close range that makes it prohibitive to play.
Since the goal is to make it so that DoubleBarrier is a weaker composition than SingleBarrier most the time.
That said, in the larger concept post, it does involve making offtanks better at Peeling. Which could be buffed even further, if needed. (I.e. 3sec Zarya bubbles) [✅] Abbreviated Tank Changes
hog vs sigma interaction is balanced in favour of Sigma, I agree.
The only thing Hog can do is break Sig’s shields very quickly. The problem is that Sig can easily move his shield making it hard for Hog and his team to easily destroy it.
Sigma was released to have variety in the shield tank role. No thank you. I’d rather have him become the main tank he was meant to be and remove out of countless things in his kit.
