if we restored 6v6, there is not reason we can’t just make hero picks first come, first serve.
This is working quite well for the 6v6 workshop mode. Either players learn to flex or they sink.
Then we can weed out the one tricks.

I like it.
Its my opinion, all players should be able to play any role type. This makes for a well-rounded player. But would the community agree to the Flex role to get 6v6 back? ![]()
Not me, I don’t really have a desire to play roles that I don’t want to play
Forcing people to play things they don’t want to is a great way to make them quit
Perhaps hero shooter arent for you? Kind of silly to limit your choices like that.
Could be!
Sound a lot like 5v5…
Hmmm
Not sure if that even means anything
5v5, forcing people to play something they don’t want to play. A thing causing players to quit?
Unless the simple fact of there being 10 people instead of 12 is what’s killing the game for you, they aren’t forcing you to play anything
Open queue is right there my guy
That still forces people into roles their not good at or want to play, and creates a hierarchy of players based on their abiltiy to connect to blizz servers/load in models.
So like… not a good thing.
Actually, I only play the 6v6 workshop mode. The live game isn’t OW.
This actually happened briefly back in OW1 after a patch. Roles were limited to two each, and were first come first serve. The amount of leavers when people couldn’t get their role was crazy.
And if everyone stayed, the negotiations immediately began. They started nice, but usually broke down pretty quickly to: give me dps or I throw.
Toxicity was through the roof. Hotfix came in pretty quickly.
The recent creator patch was role limits and I never encountered any toxicity in regards to “first come, first serve.” It was arcade though so that’s probably a reason why hehe.
I’m a firm believer that role queue rewarded the bad one trick players too much. If you can’t comforatbly play multiple roles, you don’t deserve a rank imo.
Seems like a good way to weed out problematic players no? I like this idea even more.
As a main tank and someone who has harddrive.
I wont be asked to que for more than once and fight for a role where i have more than 1000 hours.
good luck with weekend tanks.
I just remember being salty during OQ days always being left with support. In hindsight, I should have just not played support like most others, so my fault lol
So the issue is you need not only play multiple roles, but multiple heroes in that role. And know them all in and out well enough to compete at the same rank as your best hero/role.
In a space that is going to punish you hard if you were not already up to date on such.
That sounds like the opposite of a problem. A players rank will only be a good as thier worst role
Unfortunately those problematic players are 70% of your player base. There’s a LOT of people with a very shallow character pool. Particularly dps players in my experience. ![]()
