Remove ram piercing through shields

the fact he can punch through them is so dumb lol, he basically hinders brig useless in a ton of cases and reinhardt too. idc if you buff him afterwards just remove the piercing

I use shield bash to get away from Ram in nemesis form.

That’s true. Still, it’s possible that it buys enough time for teammates to drive Ram off or to force him to block, in which case he’s not catching up to Brig. It all depends on the circumstances I guess.

Something most people don’t know is Brigitte’s shield bash doesn’t even travel 12m as you might think, but actually goes 8m. Ramattra’s fists travel 12m, and he gets a near permanent 20% speed boost.

All this is to say that Brigitte is pretty screwed, even with shield bash. As someone who plays both heroes a lot, it’s not worth playing Brigitte into him. You’ll either be forced to play super conservatively or constantly be threatened.

I think they gave ram too much of a speed boost in that form. Thats my issue with it.

Is that true even if you jump → bash? I’ll be honest, I have no idea how far Brig travels either way since I’ve never sat down and tested it, nor does it actually give any numbers in game for the very good reason that

obviously but hes in nemesis, hes gonna use that 20% speed boost to easily catch up to you

He’s a counter to barriers…if we still had 6v6 it wouldn’t be that much of an issue imo.

Here we are. Two years too late, he could’ve been the answer to “double barrier”. Oh well.

Shield bash + whip pretty much gives you enough time to run away or for nemisis form to deplete

I mean if ur even in immintent threat to a ram in nemisis form I dont think ur positioning that well. Into a lot of the ow2 tanks brig is best played in a place where she can easily peel for the high priority target without being killed

Ram is weird imo. He utterly dominates up close like Rein does, but in his alt form he’s also pretty good at range. Never mind how his ult stacks upon how strong his nemesis form already is.

I think other than just changing the form, perhaps change how it builds up? A resource built up by doing dmg or taking dmg might work. Instead of a fairly short CD it would be something you had to actively build up.

i understand but he literally just hinders shields useless without some sort of counter to him at the same time. reins shield health was nerfed by 400, ram makes brig squishy even if you have good positioning, even HolyShiftKid has issues with going against ram because of the fact he pierces through barriers. ik some compare it to deflect, but even deflect has counters which is accretion and another ability. ram though has 0. it would NOT hurt him so much to just remove it since theres only 1 barrier allowed on each team (excluding brig)

Normal Brigitte bash travels 8m over the course of 0.3 seconds. With the short hop you can travel about 11-12m over the course of 0.8 seconds as long as the terrain is favourable. By which I mean it’s not uphill, you’re not jumping, and there’s a beneficial straight horizontal line of that length.

If all goes well, you can widen the gap between you and Ramattra by 7m. It would take him a few seconds to close that gap if you were on the edge of his range, but if you were in close/medium range then it wouldn’t be far enough to escape him.

I’m not sure. All I know is that it felt really short for 12m and a quick test immediately confirmed my suspicions. It’s been this way since OW2 launch.

i have a feeling that its just the spaghetti code, it sounds like it just adjusts to 11-12m if you jump instead of using bash in general, so its moreso the game basically just making it 7m on the ground, but 11-12 off the ground? if that makes sense? thank you though!

also funny thing, i was working on a workshop code and was struggling to figure this out, so i just gave up and did 0.35. im shocked i was actually so close

We already had answers to double barrier, it was in the Tank-role.

Reinhardt, Winston, ignore barriers, all their abilities pierces barriers. Roadhog’s Whole Hog, and general fire shattered barriers faster than any Damage-role hero could ever do. Likewise, D.va’s infinite ammo/no reload was more effective than Reaper’s ability to shut down barriers. Moira’s Coalescence pierced barriers, Sombra can EMP/Hack and shut down barriers for several seconds, too.

In fact, the only ones that were greatly affected by double-barrier, was the Damage-role. Though a small handful of heroes could ignore barriers completely (ie: Sombra, Tracer, Doomfist). And again, Double-barrier was already “solved” before they made the decision to reduce the number of Tanks on a team.

Why are you trying to solo a Tank as Brigitte, instead of supporting your team?

Reinhardt pierces barriers too. His hammer, Charge, and Fire Strike completely ignore barriers. Same with Winston. Same with Junker Queen. Same with Wrecking Ball. Same with Doomfist.

The only ones affected by barriers tend to be the Damage-role heroes.

ah ah ah, im not. no one said i was, i wasnt. i never do that because trying to duel any tank is a death sentence as brig. im saying its stupid how he can just go up to me, press shift, and hold down M1 and easily farm me even with my shield up. brig isnt 1.0 anymore its been YEARS we know this

yeah and we dont need ANOTHER counter to shields. plus these are stupid, ALL melees pierce barriers. their not a problem because they dont do as much damage as rams punch does and how fast he can punch too.

reins hammer pierces bc its a melee, charge pierces because its LEGIT his character moving, fire strike ignores shields idk why but its prob bc its on a mediocre cooldown. winstons primary is pretty low dmg so thats why, junkerqueens axe no idea why but sure, wrecking ball…? what his melee or his roll because his roll is just his model moving which ANY character does. doomfist is prob just to make him feel more fluid and since hes already pretty mid.

Ram’s Pummel is 60 damage per swing, with about 2 swings per second putting roughly 90 to 100 damage per second. Since they have a traveling speed, it is actually easy enough to juke and dodge a lot of their shots; but if you were a big Tank, you’d actually have armor protecting you and mitigating a lot of that damage bringing his overall DPS down to 70 or so. Harder to dodge melee swings include Reinhardt’s (which hits wide) and Junker Queen’s, both hitting harder, individually, than any single strike of Pummel does.

So, it really isn’t that much of a problem you think. Just another Tank perk.

Oh wait, there’s another Tank perk that reduces that effect. Guess you’ll just need teamwork to get rid of him.
