Remove Private Profiles?

I’ve played with an open profile pretty much since I found the option to make it public. I’m support main, but like to play dps/tank from time to time, not much though. Since the introduction of rolelock I haven’t seen or heard anyone mention me being support main when queueing on an off-role.

Personal experiences should not be an indicator of how someone will react to someone else because of player prejudices. For example, someone may react negatively to someones profile just because of their name.

I aggree that something like this shouldn’t be based solely on personal expirience, but the statement I quoted is still wrong, because it suggests, that it would happen all the time, which it apparently doesn’t, else I’d know.

What they said doesn’t suggest all the time; it’s a claim that it would happen.

The feature actually came I believe because of EU privacy laws. Correct me if I am wrong because platforms like Steam have done the same thing.

Stating it as a fact like in the post I quoted does assume, that it at least happens on a very regular basis, otherwise it should’ve been worded differently, saying that it might happen from time to time.

I AGREE!!!

They shouldn’t delete the private profiles because while the issue of toxic players calling out profiles isn’t a common thing it’s still a thing. They should instead just show the current SR/MMR of that player and their Top 5 most played heroes in order without any other statistics. No time played or anything like that. Just the SR/MMR and Top 5 most played heroes

They didn’t state it as a fact; there wasn’t anything in their comment that established validity other than their explanation to why it would happen. Regardless, what they said would likely happen enough times for it to become a problem.

For example, you have 100 hours on a popular Healer but the one you choose is only 15hrs. If you don’t do well on the 15hr hero you will likely be blamed if the team battles fail (whether its true or not). In a nutshell, you’ll be bullied to stick with the hero you have the most time with.

This is where I stop reading.

None of what you said matters, they’re going to pick whatever they pick and you are free to ask people to switch. The number of people who will actually switch based on your demands is infinitesimally small anyhow.

Your win rates aren’t going to soar because you can see what people have done in the past.

I’m with you on that statement, looking at the size of the player base it is bound to be a problem, even if it only occurs in 5% of all games.

I wouldn’t go as far as deleting private profiles, if someone wants to not show everything, this is completely fine imo. Still, at least a few bits of information, like the ones mentioned should be fine for everyone.

I don’t want private profiles to be removed, just a few bits of information for the team to work with and maybe some more options for the player to choose what is being displayed would be very nice.

I think a better solution is to encourage the system to give high sr mercys low elo on other roles. Its ridiculous that someone worse than me that got boosted to master gets to start off at a higher sr on dps. Ive put over 20 hours into aim training games just for a boosted support to be handed master dps for free

So if they actually do good, they are still more likely to get low elo? That’s smart, isn’t it…

2 issues:

  1. you’re assuming that all Mercy mains are boosted. Just not true.

  2. you’re trying to get all Mercy mains punished for something only a small handful of players do.

Well, considering most people who play this game have played it for a long time, they know that private profiles are on by default. So everyone knows they are CHOOSING to keep it like that. Therefore, a lot of toxicity is still directed towards people who have their profiles on private… At least that’s what I’ve found.

Before private profiles, people were bullied into playing heroes that they might not necessarily want to, just because they one trick them.
After private profiles, people get bullied for having private profiles. Private profiles didn’t solve the problem, they just directed the toxicity elsewhere.

I just dont see why i have to get stuck with a tank or dps who can only play mercy. Having better dps almost gurantees you win

Firstly, there’s a difference between manning and one-tricking. Secondly, you’re still making the assumption that Mercy mains can’t effectively play DPS.

Maybe instead of removing private profiles, people are given the option to pick 2 heroes from each role that they prefer that show up when you hover over their name? Give people some voluntary information choices.

Its a fact that many cant. You dont see many mercy players also playing widow hanzo and mccree, its more like they are mei, or sombra mains. Im actually really surprised that more people dont talk about permanently invisible sombra players. 2 mins into the game their emp is 35-50%
