No one uses it. It’s the most useless thing ever . It doesn’t provide any insightful learning capabilities. Overwatch needs something more. New players don’t learn anything from the “game tutorial” when you first open up the game. Just that Soldier: 76 can run and shoot. New players who use Practice vs AI (If they can even find a match) learn nothing, and gain nothing from it. I tried finding a match on Practice vs AI last night to see if anyone even plays it. After an hour and a half of not finding a match, I quit. This tells me no one plays it, and there’s a reason for that. For 3 years people have complained that this game needs a proper tutorial or a proper practice mode and Blizzard can do that by replacing this mode with something new and improved. As far as I know, there’s no reason to have this mode in the game.
I think it’s silly that they try and stick you with other players. It takes longer, you get leavers…nobody sticks together because we’re alllllll trying to do something different (that you can’t really get away with in QP)… Just…put me on a team with other bots. Please
There’s plenty of people playing vs AI, but you won’t find many now because everyone is busy with the Halloween event. I’ve played with people of many ranks in Training vs AI.
You also have to consider time-zone and peak hours as well.
It has a dedicated playerbase actually. I also spent half of my total playtime in that mode. Granted, it’s not a great gameplay experience but the people who play that mode are generally very friendly. I encountered quite a lot of nice people there. I’d love if Blizz would actually pour more resources into it to enhance the A.I.
No, I can list you several that doesn’t even involve tutorial-type things.
1.) I play it a lot to chill out when I’m nervous. The people there are usually really nice.
2.) It’s a good way to get some super quick and easy EXP when you’re really close to leveling, but you don’t want to go through another stressful game against people.
3.) It’s great for people who like the game, but aren’t that good at it. (Young kids, people with disabilities, etc.)
4.) I said I wouldn’t mention tutorial stuff, but … similarly, it’s a great place to get the ground-work understanding of a new hero and how they play. It’s a step up from the practice range.
5.) It’s just fun. Sometimes you can get the bots stuck by knocking them out of their pathing route, etc. ![]()
It may not be the most important mode, but there’s literally no reason to remove it. It’s not hurting anything.
What a foolish thread. Many people play this mode. Now not that many. Due to the PVE events. Because the people who play VS AI would go to those modes. I can always find a match within seconds to a few minutes of hitting that button. The VS AI mode is to just have fun. You can learn little from it. You can improve your reaction time. Since everyone is a aimbot. But that’s not the point of the mode. I rather earn lootboxes in VS AI. Than waste my time in QP.
Just because you don’t use it doesn’t mean no one uses it. I use it a lot. The people I play it with also use it a lot. Your statement, which has zero stats to back it up, is false. If it’s not bothering you and you don’t use it, why do you care? What resources is Blizzard putting into it that you think would be more beneficial redirected elsewhere? The servers? It already gets very little attention as is. You just stick to what you like and leave those who play vs AI alone.
This is like those people who say “why is mystery heroes permanent, that game mode is terrible and nobody even likes it.” That is called an opinion, a wrong one but everyone is entitled to have one, and by no means reflects anything even remotely true about the mode.
I play VS AI all the time normally when there’s not an event going on. Takes me maybe ten minutes MAX to find a match. People in that mode are always helpful and friendly. It’s also helped me practice and get better with characters I struggled with like Widow and Winston and Reinhardt. I’d say it’s as good or better practice than Mystery Heroes to get better at practicing different heroes. I can play literally every character (save for Doomfist) thanks to this mode.
Until a proper PvE mode is added, I’m gonna keep spending the majority of my time playing VS AI. Along with the many other people who do the same.
The thing with Overwatch is that it was advertised as a rather casual shooter with the focus it’s diverse cast of characters and their special powers. Sure, it got a lot more competitive and complex over time but the main appeal is still there.
A lot of people get drawn to this game that don’t necessarily care for the competitive aspect as much as for the characters, the lore or just some gameplay mechanics. Now where do you go with that mindset? Certainly not competitive where half the roster and especially your favorite character tilts the already fragile minded team. Quick play which is more often than not super lopsided to achieve the 50% win ratio for one team. Maybe Arcade because it’s rather casual but it still has matchmaking issues. There’s not much left aside from vs A.I. or maybe custom games.
Sometimes I just want to enjoy some gameplay mechanics without worrying about team compositions, (which are actually mostly very good in vs A.I.) matchmaking or toxicity. This mode lets me just enjoy the characters.
I have a friend who only plays Versus AI due to anxiety. So I think it’s great they have a mode they can play. And besides,PvE event modes aren’t around all year yong
no please dont, whenever i have to babysit my cousin i let her play vs the ai and she loves it instead of getting destroyed. and before you say git gud she is 8 lol
New people use it if they’re not comfortable with playing against people yet or want to get to know how to use a hero. It’s a practice mode. Why remove it?
Social anxiety exists. Some individuals prefer playing VS AI to limit their interactions with people.
Little kids whos parents/family let them play the game also have a fun time playing it. It’s easier.
Just because you don’t play it doesn’t mean other people don’t.
I’ve seen a guy with 900 hours on vs AI
The friend of mine I mentioned in my previous post has like 650 hours on the mode
You can do that in customs
Speak for yourself.
I play VS AI a ton because the people who end up playing are some of the most chill players I’ve even come across. It’s like they know how to have fun in this game.
I prefer PvE-like gameplay vs Comp modes; because I just find it more relaxed and engaging.
What I would like for them to do is to at least add more AI in general.
Vs AI is the only mode I played for the first year + some change that I had OW, outside of the events that were also vs AI like Junkenstein and the Archive missions. My computer was too potato for me to play against other people, and most of the folks in vs AI have a bad computer like I did, or they are older/younger, or they like a relaxed environment in which to learn maps, and also practice with heroes without getting yelled at to switch because they are doing poorly.
Right now there’s an event going on that’s purely va AI. Those AI players are going to be in that event because they are starved for PVE.
practice vs AI is good for people who have just bought the game in my opinion. gives them a chance to figure out sens, and heros they may enjoy
The fact that this game has the training room and AI bot matches is one of the things that make this game great. Too many MP games don’t have anything of the sort, throwing new players straight into the fire without any real way to learn and practice. If you’ve played other similar MP games, this probably isn’t a big deal as you already have transferable experience. But for new players who have never played any MP games before, you instantly become a dead weight to your team because you’re still struggling to get to know the basic game mechanics. And given how toxic this community already is, the latter situation will likely result in new players having insults screamed into their ears before finally driving them away.
EVERY MP game should have a training ground and Bot matches mode like Overwatch does. For a game that relies heavily on teamwork which in turn relies on a firm understanding of the basic game mechanics, having game modes to let you harmlessly practice are absolutely vital. It truly baffles me why more games don’t have such modes.
Let your toddler play it who is not good enough to face other players?
