Remove penalties

I love your logic If I leave a game because of the toxicity of other players it’s me who gets penalized ?

It’s time to remove unnecessary penalties

I have an idea since you are not able to do things on your own If we leave a match Create a text panel that gives a player the opportunity to explain why he left the match At instead of just giving it a penalty and If it’s too hard for you to handle you can put answer choices

What do you think about it

I’m pretty sure the only reason they exist is to encourage people to complete their forced 50 matches.

all it has done is encouraged people to throw matches

The problem I see with this idea is that you probably won’t get very helpful information or at least nothing that Blizzard could use.

I could sit here and say ‘I left because 2 people were afk’ or ‘matchmaking’ when in reality i left because:
-i don’t like this map/mode
-someone took my character and i refuse to play anything else
-they have a (insert annoying character) and i just can’t be bothered
-We have a (insert whatever) and i just don’t like that
-My teammate won’t do I tell them too
-My teammate keeps trying to tell me what to do
-I was a problematic player to my team and now that they’ve turned on my poor behavior, i’m out cause if I can’t be toxic, then i’m not playing (actually a mentality i’ve dealt with because some people can’t tell the difference between talking smack and just being racist)
-We lost the first fight and if my team isn’t steam rolling, then i’ll just go find a match where they are

People leave for petty reasons all the time, and the odds of them being honest about it is probably pretty low

So mute and avoid. No need to leave. If they’re throwing, you do whatever you want as well until the clock runs out; ie swap to a hero you’re not great with or are curious about but not confident enough to play, then avoid and report. If they’re bad or new, you play as best as you can until the clock runs out, or don’t, and then avoid as teammate. Everyone was new or bad at some point, and everyone has matches where you get tilted, it happens and you can’t win every match.

There are options besides leaving. But the reality is the vast majority of players are doing exactly what Scarecrow456 said:

And we need to find a way to discourage that. Penalties are required. Just not necessarily the way Blizzard has chosen to implement them.

Without question I completely agree. If a game isn’t fun or your not having a good time, what’s the point? Now that doesn’t mean i’m saying that if one round isn’t going how you’d like, just bail cause your gonna have those matches no matter what.

And losing at a game isn’t the end of world (despite how some people will act). If i get a game that i’m just having a horrible time and am furious part way through, i’m done after that game. I’ll play something else or i’ll do something else, which I think is something that a lot of people should do but don’t so they carry that anger and frustration into their next games which just makes things worse.

From what you mentioned, i’m not surprised they left, but this is an issue i’ve always taken with the way people use the scoreboard. It doesn’t tell you as much as your convinced it does, and it certainly doesn’t tell you the whole story of what’s happening in the game. It feels like an issue that comes up when a person has no idea how another character actually works (people yell at moira cause she’s doing damage but the seem to forget that moira NEEDS to do damage to get her healing goo back [I know there’s extremes like a moira doing 0 healing, but those are outliers and not the norm from my experiance]).

Agreed. I think blizzard over corrected on dealing with leavers. They probably could have found a way to reward people for staying, but i kind of feel like we’d still be running to some of the same issues that the penalties have caused.

Toxic people cause problems for everyone involved, including themselves so i’m not a fan either. If a game is close, and i’m having fun, i don’t care whether i win or lose, as long as it’s fun.

I’m not happy that my initial response is yes. It shouldn’t be, and I don’t want it to be, but unfortunately…it’s the reason I stopped joining VC, don’t play comp, and don’t talk to people

Heck, I don’t even need your best, as long as your trying at least a little
