Remove medals already

Yes, its sometimes fun to see that you have 3-5 gold medals and feel like youre carrying, but most of the time it just enables toxic behaviour.

Hell, even rework the whole scoreboard, Theres so much space and you can add new stats…

Make it so we still have medals in casual modes but not in ranked

SHould have been a scoreboard, visible to everyone, not medals.

Yup.
Don’t see the point in them.
You got gold kills?
Moira, you get 2 damage on someone and it counts as a kill.
Mercy, you damage boost someone, and their kills are yours.

Not to mention, just because you have top damage, that doesn’t mean that you’re always doing good damage. You could just be going after the tanks, but meanwhile you have flankers killing your healers.

I think that would bring more toxic behavior.
YOU CAN SEE I HAVE HIGHEST DAMAGE, THAT MEANS I’M CARRYING

Exactly but not visible. And no more god damn stats comparing to other people. I hate this enabling toxic crap

The only time I feel like comparing is when I have a gold or silver medal for healing… as Roadhog.
I feel like when that happens, something is wrong.

Well, I am a little surprised at a top 500 person making that statement.

I only play Mercy and am Permabronze, but it’s nice to get the gold medal at heals; if I get silver, I take it as a sign to concentrate more. For me, it’s realistically just that one medal, and perhaps a silver or bronze on Objective.

Remember, not everybody gets multiple medals. And not everybody is top 500 like you.

It honestly has more pros than cons. I hate people yelling at me “I HAVE GOLD MEDALS YOU DIDNT DO SH**”

Sometimes I do a lot but medals dont prove anything. And medals shouldnt tell you if you are underperforming. You should be able to tell by yourself if your team is dying a lot.

Not always.
You have to look at who your healers are.
Do you have a Lucio?
Lucio can heal many people at a time, while Mercy can only heal one (unless she is ulting). Unless you’re really moving your booty, you’re most likely not going to get gold. And that’s okay.

Quality > Quantity.

And?
That doesn’t mean people can’s still think that medals shouldn’t be a thing, lol.

I mean some points, for everything you do -Objective time, Damage, Assists ,Ult shutdown , Damage Blocked, Saving a teammate etc.

No. I will legit go full toxic animal if I do not have all my precious medals to comfort me.

It’s hard to imagine top 500 people saying that, to be honest. Who reaches that rank by “doing nothing?”

I am obviously not top 500, but this reminds me of the argument whether chat with other team should be possible. In Versus of Heroes of the Storm, you can only talk to your own team. So, some people say – “well, you shouldn’t be able to talk to the other team cause all they’ll do is troll.” To which other people say, “some people actually use it to make friends with somebody who impressed them, or good sportsmanship.”

I think it’s the same deal with medals. Yeah, I see lots of idiots which start telling the team “I GOT GOLD ELIMS” when we’re getting steamrolled. But some people just track their own performance using them, so they’re not doing that.

I usually get Gold for heals and heal anywhere from 40% to 70% of the damage my team took; of course, in bronze, 70% might be 5000 heal points, and if the opponents have the sense to prioritize me, I might do worse, but it’s Bronze, you can literally win with 6 supports or something, so anything might happen.

I am not top 500.

Im a fraud, its from comp ffa. Pretty sure my profile is public for you to see.

But I am a masters player though.

People should learn from themselves. Or the stats could tell youre underperforming than your average if the match lasts longer than 10 minutes.

Its hard to make a solution, but people are probably gonna ask you what are your stats and etc.

Master is still better than permabronze lol.

I am lucky to have a match without a leaver, smurf, thrower, etc. My best match in recent memory was a Draw where we truly were matched against an equal team and it was insanity to win an inch. But usually, you’ll get wrecked by a leaver, etc.

Honestly speaking once I stopped focusing full force on medals, I feel like I was much more relaxed and played better.

Though it’s always nice when there’s that one guy who complains about having “ALL GOLD MEDALS” and two seconds later you take it from them. And then you act oblivious like “You what? Don’t lie, I have gold.” and the backtracking of “I JUST HAD THEM A MINUTE AGO!”

Or the DPS who is like “Gold is 1 kill, what are you guys doing?!” because it’s like. Buddy. We all have that medal.

I think this is part of the reason I only like Mercy. Playing DPS feels a lot more stressful than full-on healing, Mercy very rarely is in a position where it is necessary to attack.

That said, I think pretty much everybody goes out of their mind in Overwatch eventually. I have a good bud who I partnered with for a long time (he’s Rein/Reaper, I am Mercy) and he got out of Bronze and is in Gold. He’s the kindest, most chill guy, but even HE melts down after enough comp.

Ahahaha, true

I always find having the most stats fun.

Maybe enable it in quick play but get rid of it in ranked

Even worse, at the start of the match the Moira who sends in a damage orb and then two seconds later, “Noob DPS i have gold damage”

I feel that. Comp can be stressful, and that’s one of the reasons I don’t miss it at all.

It’s great he was able to do the climb though!

Yeah, I am happy for him. He really wanted to get out of Bronze.

Sadly, we can only play together in QM, now, he’s too far up for me to Comp with.
