Match chat is just a breeding ground for toxicity and brings zero value to the game.
All players do is cry in the match chat and say the same cliche phrases like “diff” “Ez” “report this person” or fake accusations.
Sure, we can turn off match chat but being oblivious does not resolve the issue.
I liked the idea of team chat only because you can communicate if you don’t have a mic or chat stops working.
If the Overwatch team really cares about community and team work then the only team chat/voice should be available.
Thanks for attending my Ted talk.

I get that you don’t like match chat and want it gone, but there are a lot of other people who don’t have any issues with it.
We have the option to disable it I guess, better than being forced to look at it

How am I supposed to tilt kids with “easy clap” after every victory?

Its nesessory to have match chat. For example, if one team has an obvious cheater. Using match chat to call for a draw is pretty common.

I don’t like the text chat as a whole (team and match chat) , most people instead of using their mic they afk while writing and reading text chat .
Like this happens to me a lot , sometimes I check the text chat when I die and find someone from my team typed mccree for example behind .
like imo the only useful tool for communication is voice chat , just use ure mic or join and listen to call outs , or at least don’t afk writing something.

I have never seen that happen, usually just get rolled because they’re grouped with the “cheater”
It dosent happen a lot, but happend a few times in my experience.
…it doesn’t?
I mean if you turn it off you won’t have a problem with it, same if others just do it.
No point in removing it if you don’t feel like disabling it yourself.

Just turn it off man? Why doesn’t that solve your problem?
I agree though you shouldn’t be able to use it at all during the match. Only in spawn. The AFK thing is even worse on console as the players literally take so long to type out a message they’re kicked for inactivity.
Hopefully in OW2 we will be able to identify flankers in the same way we can ping the point or payload now.

if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around does the tree make a sound?

You have the tools. As a matter of fact, you can remove chat from your own teammates. Use it.

Sad to hear your team chat experience has been bad.
Mine has been good.
It ain’t the kids that get annoyed, it’s the grown a** adults, for SHAME.

Everyone who isn’t racist, homophobic, or otherwise not toxic should have a problem with it because simply acknowledging that it’s happening and then not doing anything about it is enabling that behavior and they will keep going as long as ONE person let’s them

Remove team chat because most of toxicity is directed towards teammates?
Maybe just prohibit all words because they can be used for being toxic?
The real issue is that some people think removing something because it has the capacity to be hurtful is a good idea. You’ll be left with nothing good if you go in that direction long enough.

I would like an option that lets players whom I have muted and blocked know that they are muted and blocked, teammates included. Otherwise there is no point of using those features for me.

It need a permanent off switch.

To me, if they’re blocked/muted, they’re blocked/muted. I don’t care how they’d react to it. I simply don’t dwell on that.
My question to you now is what solution would your proposal provide that you think is lacking in the original system?
